Where were we ? Oh, yes. The Nazis appeared and we're fucked.

The Fate Of Atlantis.

2d9sl09.jpg
You've just handed the Third Reich its ultimate victory !

iliuso.jpg
It'll take more than a few orichalcum bombs to conquer the world, Ubermann.

2i0y0x.jpg
Bombs ? The GODS don't need BOMBS.

2d9sl09.jpg
Take a look around, what do you think this astonishing machinery is for ?

2lcycqw.png

2d9sl09.jpg
Wrong ! As Plato himself well knew, this was a factory for manufacturing HIGHER BEINGS.

2i0y0x.jpg
While you've been wandering around, we've been stockpiling orichalcum.

2d9sl09.jpg
And now we have all we need. Are you ready for the greatest moment in history, doctor ?

2us9y84.png

2d9sl09.jpg
Experiments gone awry. Unworthy slaves sacrificed in the name of knowledge. Progress has its price, you know.

iliuso.jpg
Maybe they were all too human, like you.

2d9sl09.jpg
Sub-human, you mean ! They were destroyed by their physical imperfections, when they bathed in the awesome power of this device.

2i0y0x.jpg
Fortunately we suffer from no such imperfections.

Who does he thinks he is, Cleve ?

10fcbkn.png

2d9sl09.jpg
Scientific discoveries belong to the bold, Jones. That's something YOU of all people should understand !

iliuso.jpg
Do you really believe in this GODHOOD business ?

2d9sl09.jpg
Why not ? As a god, I shall KNOW EVERYTHING, BE EVERYWHERE, RULE EVERYONE !

2i0y0x.jpg
We BOTH shall rule, Herr Doktor..

2d9sl09.jpg
Eh ? Don't be silly Kerner. You're not prepared for this !

2i0y0x.jpg
We shall see.

mlmv6p.png

2w6wjs5.png

2d9sl09.jpg
You can't leave now. We're just beginning our experiment.

30ww307.jpg
Don't let me stop you.

2d9sl09.jpg
And we can't begin without a guinea pig, can we ?

30ww307.jpg
*gulp*

2d9sl09.jpg
Now, if you kindly step onto the platform...

But Kerner has his own plans...

2dwhjbc.png

2d9sl09.jpg
What ?

2i0y0x.jpg
If anyone's going to become a god, it must be me !

2d9sl09.jpg
You ?! Don't make me laugh !

2i0y0x.jpg
I'm in charge of this operation, you spineless sausage !

2qwj3o2.png

2d9sl09.jpg
*sigh* A test is a test. Plato suggested ten beads. Let's try that.

30ww307.jpg
Wait !

2i0y0x.jpg
What now, Jones ?!

Should we help the pompous bastard ? I think not.

ri4sau.png

2i0y0x.jpg
You sound a little too happy about this. Tell me what's so amusing.

Oh well.

30ww307.jpg
Most of Plato's numbers were way off target.

2i0y0x.jpg
Hmmmmm.

4t96bc.jpg
Just a thought.

2i0y0x.jpg
He may be right... We should divide by ten ! Try ONE bead !

a0dl02.png

2d9sl09.jpg
Now it's YOUR turn.

Uh-oh, things don't look good for us.

344xso7.png

2d9sl09.jpg
Move ! Unless you want my MEN to move you !

:/

2wmgi34.png

iliuso.jpg
What makes you think you can outdo the old kings ?

2d9sl09.jpg
Science, my boy ! We have it and they didn't ! Here goes !

30ww307.jpg
Hang on a second !

* This is where we'll make our choice. How about making a grab for Godhood ?

GODHOOD said:

2d9sl09.jpg
How do you mean ?

30ww307.jpg
Dividing by ten didn't work, but multiplying might.

2d9sl09.jpg
Alright, Jones, you decide. How many beads should we use ?

11avh93.png

104hueu.png

2d9sl09.jpg

WTF ! IQ 592/977 ? Damn, it must be because I'm using SCUMMVM's saving system and not the internal one. :(

Oh well, let's see if we can avoid vaporization this time.

2m5zfx1.png

2d9sl09.jpg
There's no time. How many beads should we use ?

iliuso.jpg
No beads, you crazy old man !

2d9sl09.jpg
Come now, doctor, where's your scientific curiosity ?

spkmlw.png

2d9sl09.jpg
Look on the bright side. You'll be leaving your cares behind.

On first glance it seems that our only dialogue options are either to accept the transformation, or perpetually plead for Ubermann to stop.

eu1xtw.png

2d9sl09.jpg
That goes without saying ! But there's no reason to turn up your nose at the chance of becoming one of the lesser immortals.

Now the trick is to first act like we want to accept the offer...

30ww307.jpg
Listen, what if Plato's error went the other way ?

2d9sl09.jpg
How do you mean ?

30ww307.jpg
You can't buy Godhood for a couple of beads.

2d9sl09.jpg
Alright, Jones, you decide. How many beads ?

...and then, suddenly, decline.

iliuso.jpg
No beads ! Forget your stupid obsession !

2d9sl09.jpg
Really, Dr. Jones. Get a grip on yourself !

A new option appeared.

1ovq7l.png

2d9sl09.jpg
Why not ?

iliuso.jpg
Once I'm a god, I'm sending you straight to hell !

2d9sl09.jpg
I'm offering you immortality. Is that the thanks I get ?

iliuso.jpg
Ever hear the term, "angry god" ? Wait till you see me !

2d9sl09.jpg
Hang on. Perhaps I haven't though this through. You WANT to go first. You're scheming against me, in spite of my generosity.

Epilogue.

30ww307.jpg
2ufu936.jpg
Indy and Sophia stayed together for a while but their relationship was brief. Sophia went on to publish a paper on Atlantis, which granted her full professorship with tenure. Indy continued his adventures in search for ancient civilizations and priceless artifacts. Later on, they met again, while Indy was searching for the pieces of the Infernal Machine... but that's another story.

34fbi83.jpg
Omar's supply of Atlantean Artifacts has run short, but as long as there are pots to be found in the desert and suckers who want pay for them, business is booming. His Rent-a-Camel idea also proved quite prosperous.

kbrs07.jpg
Allain Trottier lost most of his money in the roulette one day , when he bet everything on "13 black". Apparently he was following his horoscope's advice. He can still be found among the glamorous circles of Monte Carlo though, since his reputation as a first-class antique dealer remains mostly intact.

zuox1d.jpg
Arnold actually managed to survive the boulder Indy threw on his head. We woke up after being in a coma for four months and immediately started singing a Wagner aria. After the war, he pursued his dream and became an opera singer.

2yo3dzc.jpg
Captain "Flint" continued to search for Atlantis. In one of is scuba divings he started hearing a strange voice in his head, a voice that led him to a bronze medallion. At last he was certain he found an Atlantean artifact. Filled with joy for his incredible luck, he happily rushed to the surface. Unfortunately his luck run out when, not far from the surface, he was eaten by a passing shark.

2d9sl09.jpg
Ubermann was granted his wish to obtain immortality, but not godhood. In his current ethereal form he was unable to influence the world by any substantial means. After centuries of living an inane, futile existence, his butthurt levels rose to enormous proportions. Eventually, when the Internet appeared, he managed to fuse with its core and evolved into a new entity. He survives by devouring hate, bitterness and nostalgia from the human users. In some parts of the net he is known as... "The Codex".

I like how the nazis do like they did on the films: They auto-teleport to where Indy is after he has deactivated all the traps and uncovered *insert ancient artifact of your choice here*. Then that horrible film came starring that shitty actor whose name I will not say and ruined everything. :decline:

But that's a story for another day, now MOAR!!

Great job, ghostdog.

So the final battle is actually a "trial and error" dialogue?

It's also funny that those two german guards in the back never stood a chance. The moment Atlantis starts to crumble, one is eaten by a lava pit and the other is smashed under a chunk of rock

So the final battle is actually a "trial and error" dialogue?
Yeah. It's actually somewhat hard to get to it, because the game lets you believe that the solution lies to the number of beads. A fitting punishment for all those who maniacally gathered as many beads as possible from the machine :smug:

EDIT:

Erebus said:

The same transformation to an energy being. Any number of beads that is >= 10 gives the same results. Only Kerner was unlucky enough to become a nazi-goat.

Fun fact: the music that plays when you first enter the god chamber is Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, aka the opening music of The Shining. Generally all the music in Atlantis goes from awesome to more-than-awesome.

Congrats on another great LP ghostdog :salute:

ghostdog, I prostrate myself humbly before you... yet seeing your final success has given me a taste for the adoration and glory and so I will offer my own LP of a different game to the people of Codexia! One which will swiftly make them forget your petty existence.

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream - A voyage of butthurt which will worthily challenge the ghostdog.

Count your brofists while they last!
