UFO activity was detected over Arctic.

After consulting Wikipedia on the localization of Arctic, it was decided to sent Skyranger AWACs patrols to it.

On 3rd May, replacement Interceptors arrived to China.

On 4th May, the first batch of Personal Armour was completed and sent to East Coast base.

On 6th May, a medium UFO was detected over India, but it escaped pursuit.

Another UFO of that type was detected heading towards Arctica on the same day but it also escaped.

A small UFO was detected over Arctica later the same day. Interceptor 1, Flight 1 was scrambled from the East Coast base.

Unexpectedly, the UFO fired when the Interceptor closed into missile range and destroyed it with a few hits.

Two Interceptors armed with Avalanches were scrambled - from East Coast and North Europe. The UFO was hit and crash-landed on Arctic.

X-Com Platoon 1 was sent to recover the alien craft.

Initial situation. The UFO seems to be intact.

A single alien was spotted and killed by HWP.

A Sectoid was spotted by the HWP.

When fired at by the tank, the alien fired back. A hail of small plasma bolts lightly damaged the tank, killed one soldier and seriously wounded others.

Second cannon shot hit and neutralized the alien.

Wounded soldiers were given first aid.

Situation about a minute into the mission. 2 tanks and one free machinegunner take positions covering the exit of the UFO.
Entrance is trapped with a proximity mine.

About a 1 and 1/3 of a minute a Sectoid came out from behind the ship. It destroyed one and was killed by the machinegunner with a grenade.

Soon, two more soldiers joined the one by the UFO.

Last alien came out and got blown up by the proximity mine. Lots of stuff was recovered.

A very large UFO was detected over Arctic on the same day.
