this is really starting to bug me
anybody nose if its possible to get all 5 valkyries before going to demonis?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is, considering that there's an achievement for getting them to level 5 before reaching demonis. I've managed to unlock four before I stopped playing. Fourth was in Verlon IIRC, no idea where the fifth one is.

New patch is out. Looks like they nerfed rune mages initiative and fixed the bug that made your units immune to crits.

Rune mages aren't OP. They are ridiculously OP. Impossible becomes easier than easy.

The damn game keeps crashing on me during combat. Guess thats it for me then. No point in replaying every battle a hundred times.

You playing a yarr'd version? There was an issue with Skald buffs which they fixed in a patch, which isn't available for freeloaders yet.

A workaround is: if you face an army with skalds, kill the skald stack before they manage to make a move or, if impossible, incapacitate them somehow so that they can't move. The game is otherwise fairly stable so I suppose you must've hit the skald thing.

You mean the skald unit? Well that explains it since I have them in my army.

my game crashes fairly regularly whenever I try to cast justice

Never cast it, but I think I had the same issue with Sonic Boom (or blast, can't remember the name proper). That considered I should probably back out of my "the game's otherwise fairly stable" comment.

Fixed my crash bugs, yes, they were caused by skalds. Pity, a very good unit.

I'm in the dwarven lands now. Seems like they made some last minute changes to the order of the maps, because the stuff down in dwarf town is WAAAAAY easier then anything in demonis.

It's DLC, so no. At least the way it is listed on steam it requires Wotn.

Not sure if I'll get this. I always get really fucking sick of these games halfway through.

DLC confirmed. Haven't really started playing yet though. Seeing as I've completed all of the Kings Bounty games, some of them several times, I suspect I'll sink quite a few hours into this. Will comment again later, once I've gotten a feel for this DLC.

good to see the Paladin/Skald (mind) skill tree finally become a competent area for specialisation. It was possible to focus in the skill tree in previous games to obtain a few select powerful skills and abilities but was often regarded as mainly a supplementary path to either the warrior or mage classes. Now I have to decide between which side of the Skald's skills to focus on and develop for early to mid levels. If my interests were powergaming orientated then the choice would most likely be to develop Learning, but I would rather see how effective skills such as Diplomacy and Diversions are, which will both take a few levels of saving mind runes before they can be advanced to level two or perhaps even level three. But then it appears as though Leadership has also been substantially improved (I'm not sure how exactly but going my current level the increased leadership values certainly appear more useful than they were in earlier games), and the sooner that skill can be selected and improved the better. So for the first time in my longtime habit of playing King's Bounty I'm divided as to just which of more than three or fours skills I can even begin to choose for early and mid game, rather than which few to specialise in for the majority of all game phases.

also had a lucky start with finding Royal Griffins, one of my preferred units for army composition, just before leaving the starting island. I could only purchase three but that is as many as my current leadership score allows so if necessary I can put them in reserve until another source of griffons is found.

I always choose the mage/soothsayer myself. Being able to cast two spells per round cannot be overrated. Who cares if the enemy stack reads "invincible"? That's not accounting for level 3 geysers erupting, and ancient phoenixes being called. :smug:

Having fun with the DLC.

good to see the Paladin/Skald (mind) skill tree finally become a competent area for specialisation.

The Skald tree is now more useful but personally, it seems to me all three trees are less suitable for pure specialization now. I'm playing Warrior now and I find myself investing in all three trees almost equally. Partly it's because the Warrior tree seems to be designed with Orcs in mind more than anything else and since I don't have Orcs yet, the benefits seem trifling sometimes (3 percent this, 5 percent that, meh). Most of the time I don't even notice the effects, whereas an investment in a higher Order or Distortion magic level makes a difference immediately.

But once I get my hands on Orcs I'm gonna go wild with the Warrior tree because their adrenaline abilities are awesome.
