I've never been one for trolling, but I find this whole thing pretty comical. It's interesting to see people try to apologize for the plagiarism and showing people how the images are ripped off is written it off as someone trying to ruin the game on them. I really want this kickstarter to fail, because it will surely be a shit stain on the whole concept if it does happen to get funded.

Apparently the images are done by "respected freelance concept artist" Charles Gaun and maybe this kickstarter guy really doesn't know he got ripped off by the guy who just plagiarized some google images. I would be surprised if a real "respected freelance concept artist" would be stupid enough to risk his career by ripping off copyrighted images.

My feelings while reading this latest news: :kfc:

Slightly less funny than Bioware retardation because shit like this tarnishes the positive Kickstarter vibe, whereas Bioware being stupid just hurts themselves. Still, I guess it's better that they flame out without getting funded instead of taking the money and running.

Just apparently, but I really doubt it. Just look at all his other concept arts:

    [IMG][IMG]

Even if he used actual pics as reference, all his work ARE paintings, not just photoshop filters.

Hmm, with this level of PR they might actually get those 100K in a day.

I kind of agree, because his concept for the game appears to be "swat team guys with guns" and that is what the photoshopped images showed. It almost seems like you don't need to bother with concept art for a game about a topic this mundane. Why bother drawing a swat team guy when there are hundreds of photos already available (just try to get one that you have the right to use).

Of course, it still makes him look really bad to use this poorly photoshopped art in his pitch to get people to give him money.

At this point he should just admit that this idea was a mistake and close it down before he hurts his career (even more).

Eh, I'm starting to think it's a desperate move type of a marketing event. It'll get them the press attention necessary to get to 200K.

Looks like CEO has some kind of feud with CliffyB. Clearly he's not the savviest of diplomats. Or he's paranoid.

True, bad wording on my part. Still the point stands, either the guy cheated on them or it isn't his work.

The fact that he put this much effort into the mockups, the first thing that people will notice, says how much he thinks about his target audience.

Thankfully the codex is ready to fight for the oppressed fps gamers and their wallets, worn from buying too many fps games in the past decade

Whatever. I kinda want those guys to reach 200k. Worst case scenario is that nothing will ever get released. Best case scenario is that we get a really good game.

Obviously, I won't donate a cent to the cause.

Worst case scenario they can't find a publisher to finance the project and all those 200k from donators disapear, leaving a huge stain on kickstarter and will always being mentioned as "what if they end up like tactical shooter?"...

Kickstarter is already a stain on itself.

Sheeple blindly giving money to anyone who says the right words, no matter how dirty his dossier is - even when there is no proof the game even exists in his mind.

So what do you suggest we do, Skyway? Do nothing and hope for the best?

I pledged $15 for Wasteland 2, hoping for something in same vein as the older Fallouts simply because there is no other means for them to be created. Publishers won't invest in them, and indies don't have either the financial or creative capabilities to make them.

Kickstarter allows us to fund the game (we are taking the risk that publishers typically take), thus solving the financial issue. And there is no question about the creative capability and skill of the team, since it's composed of people who worked on the original Wasteland and Fallouts. Hell, even if they don't deliver (highly unlikely), they can take that $15 as a thank you for creating the original Fallout.

It's not so hard to tell what projects have a good chance of success and which are doomed to failure. This one was obviously doomed from the start.

Well isn't that Skyway in a nutshell though? Whine about the decline, dismiss any possibility of an incline as the dreams of sheeple, torrent the results off pirate bay so the devs don't get rewarded if they follow through and proclaim the game "banalshotboring" to score edginess points?

They are probably hard at work right now, going to the 40th - 50th page of google images, to lessen the chance of someone finding what they photoshop this time :M

Anyway, with their self righteous attitude and vague conception of a generic shooter, I'm thinking that not only won't this get funded, they may end up owing money to other people

With any luck, this faceplant of a kickstarter will be rubbed in the face of every consoletard developer who wants to do a generic gunporn game for the next couple of years.
