Chaos Gate (if it really works properly, which is not so obvious with GOG releases) is indeed very good news! Now just add Wizards and Warriors and we're set.

Fucketh me, it finally happened! Shadow of the Horned Rat deserved to come back to the spotlight. It’s nice that for once you get a Warhammer game where the main threat isn’t Chaos.

I haven't played Chaos Gate this millennium. For many years I even forgot its name or that it was made by SSI. But I never forgot its soundtrack.

33% is a big number for PoE. I thought they were going to do 15% first. I wonder if it's going to receive the Paradox treatment and go on sale every two weeks.

What are the requirements to get on gog anyway? How do they deal with patches and stuff?

You mean how they get them? As far as I know, the devs must send the patch to gog and then you can install it. They had a problem with Omerta where there was a game breaking bug which a patch fixed, but that fix was only released on Steam. The devs, Kalypso, said they were going to send the patch to GOG so they could give it to their users, but that never happened at first. An user did a fanmade patch which was given as a band-aid thing for the people who owned the game on gog, and months later it finally received the patch from Kalypso (or so it seems).
Before Galaxy, you had to download the patches and apply them yourself, which was rather clunky. I'm using Galaxy and it seems it installs the patches automatically.

How in holy hell did they get Shadow of the Horned Rat to run on modern systems? It's one of those annoying cusp games after running on windows became the standard, but before direct draw had a stable API everyone used.

I've never had any luck running it on any NT based operating system. Might buy it again just so I don't have to figure it out.

(Also, I was at Games Day when Shadow of the Horned Rat was announced. I will never get the trailer out of my head.... AAAAAAAH! WAAAAAARRPSTONE!)

Apparently they did a very poor job of it, if one were to read the user reviews for the game.

I’ve been running the CD version (1.1) of SotHR for a few years on Win7 x64 and haven’t encountered any major problem with it so far. The main issue was installation since the installer is 16-bit but it’s only a matter of installing the files in the correct place and editing the registry (aqrit made a new installer for that some time ago). I don’t know how the game fares on Win8 though, but if the GOG release is anything close to the regular one, it should work correctly at least up to Win7.

I am sure there's been feedback good and bad regarding the shelf already :)
Wait, what? You've removed a functionality (manual sorting) and you're happy with the result since you've received some positive feedback? Wtf is going on.

Just because we've received SOME positive feedback doesn't mean we are resting on our laurels.
