Congrats to crpgaddict. I really enjoyed reading the Fate entries.
I have to say I kind of admire the creator of Fate, not because I think I would enjoy this game (probably the opposite), but because of his utter lack of sane business decisions having influence on game design. Most games, more so nowadays, but to a certain extent also back then are designed along at least some economic principles, but Fate? This game wouldn't have sold one copy less if it had been a third of its size. And most games that large only reuse assets in the later parts, because 99% of players will never see it. But Fate has no problem introducing new monster types and party members with unique portraits 200 hours into the game, and using a new and specific bitmap for a simple switch at the 250 hours just because.
It's no wonder that his company went bankrupt (I've read that he worked 5 years non-stop on Fate), but few people are capable of bringing their vision of a game into reality against all odds in the way he has done.
