BioWare and Irrational have partnered up, to deliver news and raise awareness of Freedom Force vs The Third Reich to the BioWare community and to the RPG commmunity in general. This new development also allows customers in the United States to purchase the game via BioWare's online store.

BioWare has teamed up with Irrational Games to help promote the launch of Irrational's new release, the super-powered epic Freedom Force® vs. The 3rd Reich. This new partnership is a direct result of BioWare's mission to deliver the best story-driven games in the world and seek out other game developers that share this vision. Both companies see an opportunity to combine their strengths as developers and as community innovators to benefit their loyal community members. BioWare aims to raise awareness of this great title through the BioWare Online Store and the BioWare Community.

On top of that, BioWare has conducted an interview with Irrational's Ken Levine on the very subject of the game.

Great...now we'll have to put up with both Feargus and Ken complaining about being called Biobitches...

All of those wankers who keep going on about how Obsidian consists of Biobitches or BioJRs need a reality check. Obsidian can't make its own titles until it firmly establishes itself as an industry player. It's as simple as that.

Well seeing as Irrational also fund their own game development, it certainly looks as if this alliance could eventually lead to some combined effort betwreen developers to completely remove themselves from having to rely on publishers to get their games on the shelves.

Not so much. There is banner in Bio's store which brings you to the official site, from where one can purchase it, but you are not actually buying anything from BioWare. From the FAQs:

Think its kinda lame how they think Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich is such an RPG. It's a freakin RTS where you can edit the statistics and abilities of your units.

It's as much an RPG as BG or KOTOR series of games. So it doesn't have "auto-pause". Big whoop. It's still an RPG and a damn fine better one than either BG. Might as well say the same about Star Wolves. Same basic gameplay, really. Only difference is you get to choose the order of your missions SOMETIMES in Star Wolves.

Yeah, having some actual freedom in the missions would have been quite cool in Freedom Force, (and probably FF vs the Third Reich). I hope that they remember to include that in a possible sequel to FFvsTR.

Isn't Irrational a Canadian developer? It doesn't come as too much of a surprise that Irrational and BioWare are supporting each other if that's the case.

As for Volourn's assertion, is BioWare a financial juggernaut now or are they just sitting comfortable for awhile? If they really are on top of the world financially, I could certainly see them taking on a limited role as a publisher in the future.

Atleast in KOTOR, BG and Star Wolves you have dialog choices...

I really like the game, but it's retarded how people call it an RPG, really.

Woah. Woah. Woah. Don't put words in my post.

And, don't worry, Llama, Otaku is just trolling as per usual.

You are PROBABLY right; Otaku is almost always wrong.

Good to see Bio is taking a cue from those masters of internet marketing - porn sites. I just hope I don't get 20 recursive pop-ups and a blue screen of death next time I visit.

See, kids, it's easy to turn anything into something to bash Bio about, you try it.

I always thought they were Australian (at least, all that's how all the mags down here refer to them).

The website has contact stuff for a Boston Studio and an Australian Studio.

    They also say this:
I wonder which studio is responsible for what?

[Edit: fixed dem bad ryting stuff]

The FF series was primarily developed in Canberra (I believe some things were done at Boston - some art and sound, perhaps?).

FFvsTR is basically exactly the same as the first, with a different story...

and actually, the gameplay itself gets a little boring after a while - but the story and dialogue really helps make you want to play through to the end

there are also some wonky issues with the custom hero management... and they can be a total campaign killer (which is a bigtime bummer for sure)

all in all, the GAME ITSELF isnt really that fun after you have played it for a few days... because its so simplistic - there arent enough challenging boss battles, just alot of diablo-style room clearing

i dont really think it deserves the review scores its been getting, but it is an ok game overall... if it didnt have the story, humor, and charm of the superhero thing it would be a total peice of shit

You are completely fucking retarded if you think FFvTTR is an RPG on the level of Baldur's Gate.

    Isn't saying
the same as saying that Freedom Force is an RPG on the same level as Baldur's Gate?

No. It's saying it's an RPG. You assume a ROLE that you PLAY in the GAME. Sure it's taking the meaning of RPG to it's basest, but it's still the same.
