Foundation, "a grid-less, sprawling medieval city building simulation with a heavy focus on organic development and monument creation":

FOUNDATION : A NEW ERA OF ORGANIC CITY-BUILDING SIMULATION!
Foundation is a grid-less, sprawling medieval city building simulation with a heavy focus on organic development, monument construction and resource management.

The game features in-depth resource management akin to the Anno (Dawn of Discovery) series, expertly mixed with city building elements from Settlers, SimCity, and Pharaoh all topped with narrative encounters inspired by Crusader Kings II to create the ultimate medieval ant-farm simulation.

In this strategy city-builder economy simulation game, players must create a prosperous settlement as the newly appointed lord of a region untouched by man.

Setting to redefine the city-builder genre, Foundation puts the emphasis on the organic aspects of urbanism in the cities of old, powered by Polymorph Games’ proprietary game engine, Hurricane, which allows for full mod support and is optimized for the thousands of moving parts that come with building humongous cities.

Among other things, the engine provides the player with robust building tools to create countless unique monuments that can then integrated into your settlement.

With medieval architecture and urbanism at the forefront of its design, Foundation’s vision is to allow players to recreate cities of that period as they envision them or even as they really were.

Grow your untapped land into a great sprawling kingdom as you appease the political factions of your area, all while listening to a beautiful original soundtrack by the veteran composers who’ve created music for Paradox Interactive’s Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV and The Guild 2-3 games!

FEATURES
ORGANIC URBANISM OF THE MEDIEVAL ERA: Create gridless and organically sprawling cities that grow like actual medieval cities.

LAY THE FOUNDATION, THRIVE, AND PROSPER: Weave a complex web of interactions between inhabitants needs and skills, resources availability, extraction, and transformation.

UNIQUE MONUMENT CREATION TOOL: Craft and design original free-form monuments like Abbeys, Churches, Lord Mansions, Castles and more, with our proprietary node-based tool.

FULL MODDING SUPPORT FOR THE COMMUNITY: Share characters, buildings, quests, and even real topologies through our mod-support tool and be part of the Foundation community.

POWERED BY OUR OWN HURRICANE GAME ENGINE: Experience a city-building game engineered with a dedicated, tailor-made, in-house engine built with our unique vision in mind.

ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK BY PARADOX VETERANS: Immerse yourself in our blissful soundtrack by talented composers who worked on titles suche as Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV!

OF MICE AND SAND, a management/exploration game where you command mobile fortress and its rodent crew to seek the legendary city of gold, from Arc System Works:

"Of MICE and SAND -REVISED-" puts you in charge of a desert craft and its rodent crew. Brave an alien planet, and turn your squeaking subordinates into first-class shipmates, all in the name of adventure!
  • Navigate the dunes in search of treasures!
  • Craft items to boost your success rate!
  • Construct a multitude of rooms, and power up!
  • Encounter surprises in the desert!
Scour the searing sea of sand!
Wander the windswept wilderness!
Adventure in ancient, atrophied architecture!
Steer a sturdy, steel vessel! Hear the mice roar!

Risen 2 Gold is 4 bucks on steam. Is it worth getting? I've mostly read just mixed reviews about it.
Yes, it's a quite good Piranha Bytes game. Probably their second worst (better than Gothic 3), but still worth playing.
It's the weakest entry in the series, far less C&C and for the most part far more linear. Rifles are a decline from archery in the previous game plus in order to get better ones and training in their use you have to forgo voodoo magic which was the one slightly interesting part of the game. Voodoo magic let you transform into a parrot and fly to access new areas/hidden loot. Plus voodoo magic had some quest integration with some mind control (and the few quests you used this in were the best in game and somewhat reminiscent of previous games in what was otherwise a forgettable experience).

I wouldn't recommend Risen 2, it's not a horrible game but it is probably just a time waster at best. Now Risen 3 on the other hand actually isn't that bad once you mod out the bloom.
I agree that it's probably the worst in the Risen series, but it's still good and I would recommend it.
Btw. parrot flight, the voodoo spell that lets you fly, is only in Risen 3. It's obvious they started playing with vertical movement and evolved it in the jetpack in Elex.
In R2 you can send out your monkey to steal, and you can use a parrot in fight to distract opponents, but no parrot transformation.

Is it finally happening? The successor to The Settlers we've been waiting for for years?
>Kickstarter
:negative:

Also there was a game with that title on the Amiga which was also a Settlers-like.

Curse of Monkey Island now on Steam too:

I guess that means no Double Fine remaster?

I wouldn't rule that out, though keep in mind that all the Double Fine remasters done so far are games Tim Schafer worked on ("Additional Design"-credit on CoMI isn't that hot when you've been project leader).

Personally I think we're more likely to see a remastered version of Psychonauts next from Schafer.

As for the LucasArts catalog... Indy 5 is scheduled for next year... and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis could use some love (and Harrison Ford voice acting).

Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Current humble bundle has Kingdoms: New Lands for $1. Game is good. It looks cute but it's very Codexian: no handholding and lots of weird rules to learn the hard way. With only one command (!), "throw money", you have to figure out when to throw and when not to. Even when you're rich, sponsoring a project at the wrong place or time can lead to disaster. Don't fuck it up, Your Majesty.
