Apparently, Guild 2, the sequel to Europa 1400: the Guild is 'coming next summer'.
There are a couple of screens and a teaser at the official site
In case you never heard of Europa 1400, it's a medieval rpg/life-sim where you play as one of several proffesions (such as blacksmith, robber, tailor, carpenter, alchemist, etc.), build up a fortune, compete with others for power and influence, have a family (meaning, you can play as your child once your character dies), buy additioinal estates and all koinds of other fun things.
There's character creation, stats, combat (though I didn't try it yet) and all kinds of nasty things you can do to other folk - sabotage their workshops, steal, kidnap, gather evidence to blackmail them or put them in jail. You can apply for different offices in the town council, gain privileges and affect the laws. Overall, get this game now. (get the gold version as it comes with the Guild expansion) _________________

Yes, I picked that game up for 10 bucks last week when and I've been playing it nonstop since. It's a shitload of fun and has some good roleplaying elements in it, too (If you bring or are brought to court, your defense is based on your rhetoric skill check, etc. etc.). I haven't tried combat, but I think it's turn-based, but I'll find out soon.
Overall a great game, and definitely one of my recent favorites. Great news to hear there's a sequel in the works. |

I haven't heard of this game but it sounds cool.
It says there is a gold version, what does it have and what do the patches fix? The complaints about the game are the UI and bugs. |

| Well, I got the Gold Edition and it's perfectly bug-free for me on my machine. I don't know about the UI, it's not really a problem for me. But, hey, at 10 bucks it's definitely worth trying out. |

Anyone remember a very similar game called King of the Dragon Pass? Absolutely no animations, fantastic gameplay. _________________ --

| Yes, I remember it. My hobby shop carried a couple copies of it in the used section, so I picked it up for like a buck. Best deal I ever got. |

There's a new trailer for The Guild 2 available here with some more gameplay footage. _________________

Shit, this looks fantastic!!
Must say though: Re that E3 teaser trailer on the actual site itself (not the one Crnobog posted seperately), how much more 'generic Hollywood Epic' can trailers for games/films get? All it's missing is that American Trailer voice-over guy (you know the one) reading out the lines.
Anyway, very nice work, Crnobog. |

Well, I haven't really seen either of the trailers - first of all I'm too busy playing the original game and secondly, I'm getting Guild 2 even if it's 'just' more of the same with prettier graphics .
I have to say it again - this game is awesome, I wonder why it gets so little attention at the Codex
[edit] If I were to write a review of The Guild, would anyone care and if so, where would I post it? _________________

I've only vaguely heard about it before, figured it was just some crappy Napoleon strategy game. I'll try to take a gander at it sometime. _________________ TACTICULAR CANCER - We'll have your balls

Are you saying that this is a 'Sims' of the 15th century? I've never played Sims but this looks interesting. _________________ "I just feel that old school roleplaying games are becoming extinct. For lack of a better example yes, you could say that, only the game's focus is more on politics, backstabbing, power, treachery and control. The 'family part' is just a way of a) gaining additional influence and b) continuing the game after your main character dies (since average age seems to be around 50 years/gameturns) _________________
