So, as people have wished, here's the Omega Syndrome Let's Play. Since I don't want to experience the empty feeling that many players experience when playing other cRPGs, I'm going to play it in Iron Man mode, which used to be known as Hard Game mode.
In Iron Man mode, I get only one chance just like in Real Life and I'm going to get reminded about it if I'll reach some Bad End.

So, without further ado...

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_089.png

I always wanted to have that box.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_090.png

So, here's the instruction on what to do on that intimidating screen full of stats.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_091.png

I create a charismatic diplomacy guy with Genetic Gift (Guess which Fallout perk it is). In older versions of the game it was kinda suicidal but this one is better balanced because someone has noticed that the challenges faced by the Character in the beginning of the game are more like challenges faced by a level 3 character in Fallout.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_092.png

No, not the empty feeling!

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_093.png

A comic book cutscene.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_094.png

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_095.png

And here's my 3rd level. I'm Max Power. A veteran soldier and a special agent, not some Vault Derper.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_096.png

I got free weapon skills as a part of my soldier/agent training. Note how I didn't gain any hit points.
I also picked a very original perk called Leadership Material - it improves initial reactions to me by 10%.

Apparently, my Mission Notes got updated - let's check them out:
The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_099.png

Also, I got access to some archives:
The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_100.png

I got some information about my pipboy.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_101.png

And information about some alien guys.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_103.png

Armed with that knowledge and my trusty Colt .45 I move into the tunnel.
Some objects have descriptions but most of scenery is completely non-interactive, especially boring uninteresting objects like trucks with machine guns and computer terminals.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_104.png

I meet some guy and he immediately aims his pistol at my heart. I'll better get used to it as aiming weapons at my heart is the favourite hobby of all armed people in this world. Of course, it doesn't have any consequences if combat starts.

Max Power:
I'm Agent Max Power and I'm here on important business (you
give him your papers).

Seargent Vestry:
"Your papers seem to be in order Sir. What can I do for you?"

Max Power:
Why is Gamma 15 ignoring our communications?

Seargent Vestry:
"I don't know anything about that Sir. All I know is two of the
biggest worms I've ever seen crawled up through the elevator
shaft and killed Dutch and then the order came down to seal the
base. So I locked the doors and I ain't opening them till General
Bellman says otherwise."

[Done]

Seargent Vestry:
"Do you want anything else Sir!"

Max Power:
I want to go into the base.

Seargent Vestry:
I'm sorry Sir, the base is locked down. No one goes in or out until
General Bellman says otherwise."

Max Power:
[Diplomacy] What if something bad happened in there and the
General needs help?

Seargent Vestry:
I didn't think of it this way. The pass code is 8648."

[Done]

Seargent Vestry:
"Do you want something else Sir?"

Max Power:
I need an escort Seargent.

Seargent Vestry:
"Yes Sir!"

[Done]

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_114.png

I click on the single interactive crate in the area and find a single stimpak.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_115.png

Then I use the terminal and I have to manually enter the code. Which means that it's probably possible to write down all known codes and use them in a next playt-hrough.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_116.png

Yay, another cut-scene.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_117.png

I don't know why, but I find the writing in this game seriously weird.

The_Omega_Syndrome_3_32_118.png

I exit the elevator and immediately I have to face the terrible Drill Worms that have massacred all the trained personnel defending the base!
I quickly defeat them together with my body guard.

To be continued...

Here I'll help. I have downloaded all your image and hosted it in my dropbox.

Pretty cool game. Too bad you stopped the LP so quickly. I'm hoping for an update very soon.

Its retro look is very nice.
And the game shows potential.
Although I found this a bit lame:
"I exit the elevator and immediately I have to face the terrible Drill Worms that have massacred all the trained personnel defending the base!
I quickly defeat them together with my body guard."
So the worms killed everyone, but you - a diplomat - and another guy kill the worms without problems?

That box is fucking awesome!

I remember playing an older version of this game where instead of worms, rats attacked me. And this guy was nowhere to be seen. Anyways, continue it plz.

I really love the artwork, reminds me a little bit of XIII and also of Evil Genious.

Please continue!! (and thanks RK47, not all of us have that kind of patience)

Technically, there are no pure diplomat characters in this version. It's because you would normally start with Fallout 1 starting stats and when you talk with Vestry, there's a chance that diplomacy will fail and you'll have to fight him to get inside, then there's a quite real possibility of him actually getting killed.
The game is pretty combat heavy and starts with a mandatory dungeon crawl where you get to face enemies that you'd normally fight on level 3+ in Fallout, so there's no place for anyone who isn't able to hit at least with 1/4 of shots. Then the background of the protagonist, didn't fit the Fallout 1 starting character stats either.

The worms are pretty lame. It's basically like groups of 2-4 pig-rats. Then there are bigger worms, but they don't have high enough stats to make them challenging opponents (like in for example Fo1 mole-rats).
I didn't find the idea of them killing the whole base security force believable. Maybe they could be in larger concentration (like a whole swarm of 10s of worms attacking a few isolated agents) or something like that, but for example one of the soldiers on the previous level got killed by literally 2 worms.

Too bad that it exists only in game... Actually, it was one of the things that got me to finally buy the game :retarded: .

It took me over a hour to make the first part. I'll upload another one today.

I searched the body of the nearest agent. He had only 22$, I guess all his other stuff was eaten by the dick worms.

7oZvO.png

I encounter another drill worm. The screenshot shows my chance to hit.

SW3AG.png

The room is clear.

gxIuS.png

The other guard didn't have anything. I guess it was a poor guard.

huEE5.png

I encounter another group of drill worms.

KYjbn.png

After defeating them, I examine the gaping anus on the wall.

3nf72.png

A room full of non-interactive computers that don't even have descriptions. I can search the crates and the bodies, though.

rld1y.png

I have found 2 stimpaks and two other items. The scientists were very poor too.

JrnoK.png

Explored terrain.

NQzr0.png

More dick worms.

w18Zz.png

Lots of dead agents and more penis/sperm hybrids.

ZJJP6.png

Clear.

SjUEl.png

I have found a stimpak and some ammo. I have a hypothesis. The base was killed by worms because no one had a gun because they were too poor to buy guns.

A73ME.png

Another room. This time there is some stuff with descriptions.

3ccYy.png

I have explored the whole floor. And approached the giant shit covered anus on the wall. I'll have to penetrate it but first, I'll reclaim some hitpoints by resting in the soft worm-ridden pile of shit until the party is healed.

xlqFP.png

I have rested for 8 hours but it wasn't enough to heal sergeant Vestry. So, I decided to rest some more.

n35By.png

After 26 more hours of rest we were finally ready to go.

4I1bR.png

Refreshed and healed, we entered the bowels of hell.

PWLy0.png

Here, we met more worms.

UZg9J.png

An alien breeding thingie.

vLA1v.png

Even more worms, we shot them to death while retreating slowly. Luckily we are more accurate than usual.

kXGJH.png

I encounter a skill check.

Xf0uY.png

The whole level is cleared, I move to another level.

5sak8.png

It's a body mound.

MRT0X.png

I find another stimpak.

wtevG.png

Let's explore the north-western tunnel.

IWx9w.png

What is this!? It looks like a tapeworm but on it's end is a...

Iw1l9.png

MULTIHEADED DICK HITTING ASS AND LEGS FOR 10 HIT POINTS, OH GOD, IT'S HEAVAN!!!

MLhO0.png

I run away and use a stimpak.

maBXn.png

Sergeant Vestry seems to be much more resistant to the charms of multi headed dick tapeworm than I. First he dodges the two first two wild flails so I stop and we shoot back, but then he runs out of luck. The dicks hit him for the first time...

H1xqH.png

And the second and third... And then he went to heaven, his body crushed by the relentless assault.

PAzjO.png

Demoralized by the senseless death of my new friend, I ran away from that cursed place. I decided to continue the search on lower levels.

s9GXf.png

I fixed the broken elevator door and went down...

HXRHQ.png

The cheerfulness of the bell sounded false to me...

The writing is indeed weird. But in an intriguing retro-ish way, and somehow I'm enjoying it. And the game looks good, even if definitely feels unfinished.

Since you're playing ironman, I just hope you don't die too quickly due to the game's imbalances. I really want to see how (and if) the plot and gameplay are going to progress.

Generally quirky writing has more to do with authors than with time period. I enjoy it too except for the parts when it gets didactic instead of being atmospheric like with all that stuff about Iron Man mode and the "aims for your heart" moments.

It's going to get much better once I'll leave the starting dungeon and there will be more people to talk to and the choose your own adventure book encounters will start appearing. Generally the starting dungeon is like someone took the Temple of trials from Fo2 and made it 5 times longer and more deadly.

I hope for it too. Generally, it's much more balanced in this version than it used to. In previous versions I would often have to start more than 10 times to be able to get through the Base Gamma.
Though, it's quite possible that I have just lost the game. Playing Iron Man introduces a natural form of Choices & Consequences that is usually absent when SFLing. Basically, I had a choice of staying and fighting and running away ASAP. I made a wrong choice and now I suffer consequences. I also made a bad choice of not tagging pistol and now I may have problems against enemies armed with ranged weapons.
