Which one to get, Der Ost Front 2 or Grossdeutschland? What I want is AI improvements and a good Grand Campaign, but more hardware is always nice too. _________________

Oh, thanks in advance. The vanilla grand campaign is great, but becoming a curbstomp after 2 flawlessly executed ops. I really like the maps (both the stylized graphics and the terrain) and unit balance, though. Way better then The Longest Day.
BTW, there's a mod for Wacht am Rhein called The Ardennes Offensive, and the difficulty is just right there playing as the Germans. It's fairly impossible to lose the Allied campaign, though, as the AI attacks suicidally, occasionally walking into its own barrage and never scouting for ambushes. It's a fair bit better on the defensive. _________________

I am considering having a go at Cross of Iron, and I am expressing my appreciation for this thread. _________________ Here's a simple rule: If you pirate the game, you don't also get to complain about the DRM. |

Playing the Soviet campaign at Hero, and it's a whole new experience. A meager, low-quality force, good defensive positions and choices everywhere. Shall I get a heavy AT gun for all my points and stop a few panzers before getting overwhelmed? Maybe several AT rifle ambushes and sniper fire will be enough to slow them down? Should we hold this strongpoint or retreat immediately and keep the force intact? Maybe this useless squad will level up and become quite deadly, or maybe it will be wiped out. And often you're reduced to crawling around with your commander, trying to stop a StuG with a SMG and a couple of grenades. GREAT!
Oh, and Trash, please tell me if you found that problem. _________________

Ah, the problem is apparently in this removed-from-inventory distributive, as I followed the instructions correctly. I'll try a different torrent. _________________

The Soviet campaign is really good, especially if, like me, you love to be on the defensive. However, I wish it was turn-based, because the interface and the sluggish movement of the troops gets annoying in those crucial moments when quick thinking is required. I think it would be great if someone could merge the campaign element from Close Combat and the engine from Men of War. In fact, I remember there being some sort of campaign generator for men of war, but I've never tried it. |

| The Dynamic Campaign Generator for MoW is pretty fun, though it requires a bit of time to set up, and the make-up of the enemy's forces are sometimes quite lulzy, but overall it's very fun. I recommend it. |

I'm beginning to question this campaign's historical authentity, Comrade Bear. _________________

Get Finn Mod, Real Romanians, Nam Mod, and GD. There used to be a nice France 1940 mod but I don't think that was ever ported over to the newer version. The desert war mod is well done, but isn't really cut out for CC combat which is mostly about the infantry for real fun. _________________ "Snarls of defiance are heard from 10 Post-op Transsexuals, 4 Dickgirls and 1 Greater Faggot." - Freelance Henchman |

I played Ardenne Offensive back on CC4. There used to be a Winter War mod as well, with strategic map and all. I wonder if they ported that one. _________________ "Snarls of defiance are heard from 10 Post-op Transsexuals, 4 Dickgirls and 1 Greater Faggot." - Freelance Henchman |
