Remember when the Wall Street Journal revealed that StarCraft II cost $100 million to develop? Turns out they were thinking of some other game.

Activision Blizzard Inc. hasn't disclosed development costs for its "Starcraft II" videogame. A July 16 Technology article about the "Starcraft" sequel incorrectly said the company spent more than $100 million to develop the game; that figure referred to its "World of Warcraft" game.

It's funny because we all believed it. But who can blame us? We've been bombarded by tales of runaway costs for AAA titles for so, so long now. And SC2 is more like a AAAA title.

I thought that this would be about the cost of purchasing a digital copy from Blizzard come release.

Because this is also still a mystery.

Those kids never seem to have trouble making money. Of course, maybe if they were a little more strapped for cash they might be forced to come up with a way to make sequels in under a decade.

It took so long becouse they needed people to work on WOW. They had said so themselves.

Someone at work quoted this price to me. I remember my reply including both that there was no way it cost that much and that was the price of wow, lol.
