[ Announcement ]
Here's something interesting for japtactical fans - a Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together remake on the PSP.
Earlier this week, Famitsu revealed that Square Enix has formed a team of top talent to remake Super Famicom/PS1 classic SRPG Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, with Hiroshi Minagawa as director, Yasumi Matsuno as game designer, Akihiki Yoshida as character designer Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata handling the music -- names that Final Fantasy Tactics/Vagrant Story fans will recognize.
The Tactics Ogre PSP remake, now with the subtitle Wheel of Fate, is meant to update the title for the current generation of gamers and will include new characters, skills, classes, story elements, battle systems, music, and more. The game's already impressive battle size is also increasing, going from a max of 10vs10 skirmishes to now displaying clashes with up to 30 combatants on screen.
Didn't Matsuno have a nervous breakdown and retire? Regardless, glad to see he's involved.Spotted @ GameSetWatch |

Yet another remake? Are they retarded? Where is an original new content? A lot of Japanese companies are trying to milk one game for about 15 years or longer. They should decrease copyright protection, and we would see something fresh.

It should be
Yet another remake? Are they retarded? Where is original, new content?
or
Yet another remake? Are they retarded? Where is the original, new content?
if it was mentioned or promised before

When you are using two different font sizes, commas are breaking line separation. Actually, brackets surrounding new would be fine.
The content must satisfy two conditions simultaneously: 1. It must be original. 2. It must be new. Would the word "and" be enough?
When people see commas, they occasionally see word "or". This behavior is fairly common during certain discussions... (...certain game developer companies...) |

Tactics Ogre is an awesome game.
On an unrelated note, is there a working PSP emulator yet? _________________ |

I was just about to ask the same wholly unrelated question. _________________ Here's a simple rule: If you pirate the game, you don't also get to complain about the DRM. |

If by "working" you mean "allowing to play commercial games at decent speed", then no.
There's one emulator written in Java:
http://jpcsp.org/
And also something more promising:
http://www.pcsp-emu.com/news.php
As with every console, it's simply a question of time (2-10 years).
The japanese gaming industry seems to be even more dead than the western one. First, DS remakes of Snes games and PSP remakes of PSX games. Then, remakes of old games in 3d and with anime FMVs.
Next: only time will tell.
Too bad that 99% of new mainstream japanese games for PS3/X360/Wii are total shit, according to both hardcore japanese and casual weaboo audience... _________________ Bitches know well bout my no-life syndrome:

Damn. Based on the progress of those two emulators, it looks like this is going to take a while. The fucking PSP has been out for more than 5 years now, which is yet another reminder of how ancient I am. _________________ Here's a simple rule: If you pirate the game, you don't also get to complain about the DRM. |

I (and plenty of other people) would actually welcome the remakes, if they were of any decent quality. Somehow though, they usually manage to fuck up something as simple as a remake on a more powerful system badly enough to make it worse. It's a miracle of
I think the PSP emulators are lagging because most people interested in those games buy the system and install CFW- that way you get the games for free still, but have the advantage of it being portable. _________________

Portable? But there's nowhere I want to go... _________________ Here's a simple rule: If you pirate the game, you don't also get to complain about the DRM. |

I know what you mean. On the other hand, it's still nice to have a separate screen + chip for the game; I play my PSP while playing other shit that involves waiting around (online games waiting for matches to start, that sort of thing) most often. _________________
