<a href="http://pc.ign.com/">PC.IGN</a> is reporting some stuff that <A href="http://www.interplay.com">Interplay</a> wants you to believe in <A href="http://pc.ign.com/articles/446/446776p1.html">this article</A> about the recent closing of <A href="http://www.blackisle.com">Black Isle</a> and the cancelling of <b>Fallout 3</b>. Here's a taste of the horsecrap:

So, let's recap.. <a href="http://www.interplay.com">Interplay</a> decided to do a demo review on <b>Fallout 3</b>, then shortly afterwards decides to fire <i>all</i> the PC people at <a href="http://www.blackisle.com">Black Isle</a> that were working on <b>Fallout 3</b>. Now they want us to believe that <A href="http://www.blackisle.com">Black Isle</a> is still operating and that <b>Fallout 3</b> is still possible? Give me a break. <b>Fallout 3</b> is as dead as a hammer at this point, and <A href="http://www.blackisle.com">Black Isle</a> exists as little more than a logo they can slap on a game in the hopes that it'll add credibility to it.

My question is, if it is just a rumour, why didn't they come forth to squash it immediately instead of letting it filter through the web for the last week?

Isn't it obvious? A big, professional company like Interplay, with $7000 in the bank and two great games ready for release doesn't have time to directly refute every little bit of conjecture thrown at them from actual employees who've recently been fired from the company.

Mayby they mean that .

They took all assets of Fallout 3 or Van Buren.

Added lots of unnessecery sex and violence while cutting all dialogue and nonlinearity
ported the result to the x-BONEX and playstation
and created
FOBOS 2.

That is the only way to not loose shareholders value i guess.

Didn't 2 BIS staffers who had friends in Titus/IP managment keep their jobs?

Maybe those guys are the ones that will be finishing Fallout 3?

I mean come on - didn't Richard Garriot finish his first few games all by himself? With two guys working on it, it should be a breeze. :wink:

The two that stayed are the ones that came over from Digital Mayhem. In other words, the two that stayed are the only ones with extensive console game development experience. That's fairly telling about what's going on there.
