For those interested, John Shaw, whom you may remember from The Absurd Nethack Tile project which we also use here on our forum to represent Nethack, has emailed me with word that him and entro-p have teamed up to work on a 3D version of Nethack and the popular varient known as SLASH'EM. The project is known as noeGNUd.
Keep in mind that these screenshots are of an early version, and the goal of noeGNUd is to eventually replace all the graphics with 3D models. There is a playable beta version that you can download now if you want, as well.
Like the site says, it's all about choice. |

Yeah man, this has some potential - the more people it lures into playing Nethack the better! _________________ "I probably am foremost among the "historians" on this forum, at least in some realms of history." -Constipated Craprunner |

I have to admit, it's a hell of a lot easier to get tilesets working in noeGNUd than it is in the normal nethack. I never could get any tiles working in vanilla nethack, even using the same config you had, if you remember that fun IRC conversation about it. I'm still not sure what the deal is with that. They're just drop and play with noeGNUd, and they work flawlessly. I really dig the aoki isometric tileset. _________________ Walks with the Snails: You know, this is what I love about the Codex. I do remember - I think some guy on #codex had the same problem with the tilesets as well. _________________ "I probably am foremost among the "historians" on this forum, at least in some realms of history." -Constipated Craprunner |

| That's pretty good work, but I think I'll stick with standard SLASM EM graphics. For some reason, it's very cute to me.... |
