Elhoim : Most of the criticism here is regarding realistic female proportions/shapes, but since the male bodies are also exagerated/stylized ( wich is good), you should jut go the same route with the female.

A new skelleton will probbaly indeed be needed to considerably modify arms/shoulders lenght and size ( wich is the most glaring thing), as for the rest just trying to get shapes that appear smooth and feminine will do. Make the females skinny, give them breasts and larger hips ( doesn't need to be *glaring*, just noticeable) and make their torsos smaller, specially at the waist.

The female barbarian's clothes (first on the second row of characters in the OP) look rather unfit for purpose. I'd understand dressing her in straps if you were aiming for the horny teen crowd, but seeing as you've made her look like that you may as well have her wear something more sensible.
It's not really a female barbarian armor set, just like there is no female centurion or "mongolian" armor in the game. What you see is what happens when a female character kills her a barbarian, takes off his armor and puts it on. Obviously, we don't want to go with "oh noes, it's a male armor so you can't use it, sorry", so you can put it on and, well, that's what you get.

Would you suggest using some kind of top/bra with it?

You know what bothers me. Clothing designed for no purpose other than to cover the nipples while exposing everything else possible. That's probably the silliest type of clothing imaginable.
The armor is basically two shoulder guards. As far as I know all armor (except for the power armor, of course) is based on the historically accurate designs. The shoulder guard is no more different than the arm guard, the only body armor worn by the Mirmillones.

Couldn't you have like a thing of cloth covering her up (under the straps of the armor)? So it's not like it's a whole piece of armor she magically found with it, but instead it's like the top of a tunic or something. You know, just cloth.

Hm, well gladiator armor is different since it's just as much for show. It seems perfectly plausible that female gladiators would be forced to wear titillating, and less practical armor.

I wouldn't call it less practical though:

"There was also a party of slaves training to be gladiators. Completely encased in iron in the national fashion, these crupellarii, as they were called, were too clumsy for offensive purposes but impregnable in defence…the infantry made a frontal attack. The Gallic flanks were driven in. The iron-clad contingent caused some delay as their casing resisted javelins and swords. However, the Romans used axes and mattocks and struck at their plating and its wearers like men demolishing a wall. Others knocked down the immobile gladiators with poles and pitchforks , and, lacking the power to rise, they were left for dead." Tacitus, Annales, III 43

As you can see, "iron-clad" armor of that time didn't seem to provide superior protection, while superior mobility was an important factor to consider.

Incidentally this is an area where the Elder Scrolls has retained integrity and is a hell of a lot better than pretty much everything else out there - women in Oblivion look normal.

Just look at this body and tell me it doesn't belong to a trans-gender. Women of Oblivion had terrible arms and shoulders. I can understand if you are an aspiring transvestite but if not, it's sad as far as your perception goes.

A simple scaling should be enough:

Perhaps you can move the vertice around the waist a little lower for female models. If the engine is capable of handling vertices of a model, you should be set to go even without modifying any files.

Yeah, that seems good to me. It's not a like a bra which would make it seem silly, instead it's just something thrown on to not look like a common whore.

Or how about you don't end up down the path of every single current fantasy RPG with ridiculous teen-fantasy ultra-buxom child-females?

I don't think anyone requested that.

Whatever. I'm pissed off at Drakensang:

I will have to reflect on this later.

so fuck you.

And it's not because of 'negative stereotyping of women omg sexist'. It's because it kills the fantasy, it kills the believable world, and so kills the escapism. Especially when they've got that overall look that reeks of pure focus grouped stupidity. Hence my ultra-wariness of compromising realism in female model design because people are having difficulty seeing instantly who is female on screen.

I never said I was against stereotypes, I just said no one requested for AOD what you were protesting against.

For me, escapism isn't about burly women wearing full platemail. This is obviously a difference of opinion in contrast to your own, but I think most will agree with me here (except for the obvious exceptions of you and.... Blackheart) that we like our womyn without the penises.

Does Kaiserin also like the womyn with peni? If so, then TWD still wouldn't have a shot to cyber with her.

And that's not something I requested. Who wants manly trannies? The woman in the screenshot does not look good - I always agreed with that. But she can be feminised by altering her stance (along with the arms suggestion). I'm simply against females who are uniformly skinny and large-breasted. Which is what a number of people here did request. And I'm against it not because I like to see big burly women, but because it makes a game look stupid. It matters not if the game has women being elite warriors, or doing nothing else but housekeeping and prostitution.

What I can't stand is the look of mass-market stupidity, nothing more.

As for Oblivion (vanilla), yes the models are pretty bad and the faces horrific. But women are shaped and dressed in a non teen-wet-dream manner. Which is sadly the minority now.

spacemoose, it's great that you entered this thread for no other reason than your lulz/e-drama antennae were tingling, sadly not everyone is as easily goaded as your Texan playmate. but keep up the good work now hey :nocaps:

I am against men who are all tanned and muscular, and shirtless. If women must wear shirts and be properly shaped, why not men? Not every man looks like Conan the Barbarian. Most don't even have anything close to abs. As a myn, I demand this rectified VD.

Something like that. A basic shirt of some sort. It's the idea of my character finding some armor and then deciding to strip right down for no apparent reason and go out adventuring in this fetish wear. Kind of jarring. I suppose you could give the player the option of stripping her down afterwards if you wanted to capture that all-important sticky-palmed segment of the market, but it seems like a bad idea that the armor should somehow force the wearer to go almost topless or naked underneath and also kind of awkward for RPing purposes if the avatar suddenly looks like a trannie pole dancer or something while I am trying to follow the story.

I like the gladiator example you gave. Anything like that would be fine. Enough that would preserve the average dignity in public and not outrage others. It's pretty neutral so it doesn't change the look of the armor either. It may also help distinguish male and female for the player too. A bonus.

Having dealt with a similar problem lately (female body, male skeleton) this helped me greatly:

Other than the females the models look quite good.

You know what, with the two in armor I can't even tell for sure which is the female.

The one on the left has a couple pixels of blank space between it's arm and waist, so that could be the female smaller waist.

However, the larger epaulettes give the appearance of broader shoulders like a male.

The sandals, as opposed to boots, on the right look more feminine so that combined with the narrow shoulders might make that one the female.

Both of their chests look the same size in the isometric view, even.
Why would there be a smaller waist on female armor?
The one with the sandals is the womyn here, I'm pretty sure of that.

It's too late to make radical changes to the models isn't it? The advise to add more idle animations typical of different sex is a good advise and something that is doable in a small time frame.

You can ask Kaiserin to pose for idle female animations. Or Jasede.

Because women have smaller waists, maybe? Plus, you know, the smaller waist is clearly visible in the initial front-view screenshot.

Tweaking models would take no more than a few hours. Making animations would take much, much longer. Female skeletons are out of the question as that would require adjusting all animations and we have over 200 of those.
