It will be easier to retrieve data on enemy technology.
Also capturing enemy ship means one more ship for Wulfen's fleet.
I don't know if this will make you change your vote, however, the captured battlecruiser will be used for research by the Green Company military engineers, besides, Wulfen has hardly any use for such astrocraft, unless you guys are planning to conquer the whole of the Commonwealth on you own, in this case I will work on it. :M

The actual vote is 2C 1A 1B, I will wait a bit more in case someone will change opinion, unfortunately there isn't much more that I can add for helping you in determining which is the best course of action without practically decide for you.

A, unless it derails things too much by introducing a tie. In which case, forget about A, let's bomb the shit out of them.

Don't say this, I appreciate all the votes of my players.
Besides, if there aren't any objections I can always combine the two options in some way, goes without saying that you will not enjoy the full benefits of a clear choice.
Hopefully someone will flip flop tho.:M

Asking them to surrender only takes about thirty seconds anyway. If it fails we can just bomb/board them.

Must be some sort of catch to it though..

If captured astrocraft is of no use to Wulfen then I agree with this:

If I have understood you correctly this means that the actual vote is 3A 2C.
Fine I will prepare the next update as soon as possible.

The Shadow in the Darkness

"Hold on, be ready to fire at my order."
Communicated Wulfen to his men.
"Establish a channel with the enemy vessel."
He said to his communication officer.

After few instants the hunching figure of the enemy commander appeared on screen, his long limbs covered by a brownish armored suit, that accentuated his resemblance with a bird of prey.
"Vichtory ascking humann?"
He said with a coarse voice in a very awkward version of the standard language of the Commonwealth.

Wulfen however had a long practice in communicating with the various alien races with which the Commonwealth came in contact, giving him a sort of sixth sense to understand what was said.

"Victory is ours, surrender, now!"

This last words were met by a cackling sound.
"Beytreayal has woon, not humanns, darckyess klawd' em, fowrexer slawes hey'll bee."

"Of what betrayal you are talking about? And how that does concern us?Respond quickly, that my patience is at its end"
Wulfen was already getting weary of that conversation.

The Jehnizar stood silent for a moment as understanding, more by instinct than reason, that his very life would have been decided by what he would have said in the next minutes.
Then, without a word, he showed a blueprint with the mark of the Representativity on it.

Wulfen made a silent question to his engineer by looking in his direction.
"That awfully resembles the technical depiction of the distortion propulsion system used by the new battlecruisers of the commonwealth."
Was the rapid answer.

After that the enemy captain put a memo with the logo of the Directorate over it.
"Hunderstands now humann?"
"Hellp prowmised for graet werryars, lyars humanns, Is bwtrayad, but Is hawd prows of heyr lyeas."

Wulfen looked at what was shown on the screen and reflected on the implications of the words he heard.
Seemed too incredible, both the Directorate an the Representativity conspired with the Jehnizars?
Hard to believe, nonetheless, he wondered how the enemy obtained the blueprints of the distortion propulsion system and if what was write on the memo was real.

"What do you want."
Asked Wulfen without ceremonies.

"Werryars fly howme, wyth mowthar wamb shewwdyng faethares, Jerhazzhar wyll cowme wyth humanns breengyng prows of lyeas and Jerhazzhar truthes."
After a pause, as a second thought, he added:
"Jerhazzhar dyes, prows dyes."

This took Wulfen some time to understand.
"Is it possible that their battlecruiser has a safety module that can be ejected from the hull destroying the ship in the process?"
The engineer promptly answered:
"Judging by the data we gathered so far it could be possible, even if we don't have any previous record of this kind of occurrence."
Shortly after he added:
"But probably has been damaged by the assaulters' attack, this is why they are trying to negotiate."

Wulfen pondered these last words while reflecting on the offer of the enemy captain to give them the proves of the betrayal of high ranking officers of the Commonwealth, coming with them with his testimony of what happened as a guaranty of the veridicality of the documents offered .
All for the sake of permitting his men to escape.
However this would have meant to lose the battlecruiser in the process.

A)Accept his proposal, something more important that this battle is at stake here.

B)Refuse his proposal, even if he's telling the truth his offer is a poisonous fruit that can provoke a civil war, open fire with the hypervelocity guns and kill all the Jehnizars, you can always communicate what he has told you when you will encounter the battle Marshall in person.

C)The enemy is in no position to negotiate, tell them to surrender, giving you all the documents they have concerning the betrayal of high ranking officers of the Commonwealth, or you will kill them, irregardless if will be possible to retrieve said documents.

A. Time to cool the guns and work out what's going on here.

If possible, would we be able to get a bit more background on who the Jehnizars are? The Directorate is the central government right while the Representativty is sort of akin to the House of Commons? Thanks :D

About the the Jehnizars and the rapport between the Directorate and the Representativity I would like to outline them properly in future updates.
At the moment I can say that your analogy could give a good approximation of the actual situation of the Commonwealth.
Regarding the Jehnizars, let say that everything concerning them is a military secret, that someone is exploiting.

I might go C. It would be nice to have the Jehnizars in person with us, for additional evidence. Any arguments to sway me?

Bumping this thread for votes and next page. :M
If there will be no other votes I will try to arrange a compromise between A and C.

Jonah's Return

Wulfen carefully took aim to the not occupied sections of the enemy battlecruiser before firing his hypervelocity guns.
"This is the last warning, surrender or die."
Time was a luxury that Lupus couldn't afford being so far from Karhyen with known and possibly unknown enemy astrocrafts still lingering around.

"I am sending the location were you and your soldiers should gather, disarmed, waiting for my men boarding your ship and check the situation, any resistance will mean death for all of you."
Communicated in a hard voice the commander.

"Crasee humann niewer hanour knews."
Exploded in anger the enemy captain.

"Fear not, I grant to you my personal protection, however it will be better for you that you didn't lie to me."
With this Wulfen closed the communication.

"To all the designated patrols, prepare to board the ship and set in place the electromagnetic generators for towing the enemy vessel."
After the order was issued the astrocrafts of the Wanderers Militia got near the immobile battlecruiser ejecting from their compensation chambers groups of men holding up to special electromagnetic modules that permitted them to safely land on the enemy vessel.

Wulfen impatiently expected for the first report, that finally arrived from one of his lieutenants after long minutes.
"We have safely take in custody the enemy and placed the modules Commander, ready at you signal."

The electromagnetic modules they used as gliders when strategically positioned generated a powerful electromagnetic field enclosing the intended astrocraft that in this way could be drag along thank to the electromagnetic hooks installed on the ships of the Wulfen's militia.
In this way it was possible to reach hyper light-speed at a certain degree even if the propulsion system of the captured vessel wasn't working, making easier take it to the nearest base.

Slowly the smaller astrocrafts began to pull the bttlecruiser progressively accelerating until they become indistinct stripes of light, abandoning the battle scene.

Norian Dhen observed Wulfen' s return from the deck of his command ship.
The astrocrafts cautiously approached the planet parking the captured battlecruiser in its orbit.
Then the Field Commander greeted Lupus through the communicator.
"Welcome back, seems that your mission was a complete success."
Lupus' answer came soon after.
"Thanks Commander, but unfortunately there are some urgent matters at hand to discuss, I ask permission for an immediate private audience on your ship."
Surprised by the gravity in Wulfen' s voice Norian Dhen answered:
"Permission granted, I will wait for you in my quarters."

After hearing the rapport the Field Commander slowly put down the documents Wulfen brought with him.
"And the Jehnizar captain?"
Asked with a distant look in his eyes.
"He's confined on my personal ship, my men brought him on board with the documents before I came here."
Answered Wulfen imperturbable.

The old Commander felt all the weight of his age in that moment.
"Obviously we must first control the authenticity of these documents after deciphering the encrypted parts, but even so the implications of what we have here can mean the end of the Commonwealth."
He shook his head with incredulity.
"Both the Directorate and the Representativity secretly contacted and provided military technology to the Jehnizars at different times in various occasions?Hard to believe."

Norian Dhen looked at Wulfen calmly seated in front of him.
"Still, there are many interrogatives. What's you can tell me Commander?"

"From what I saw the unidentified astrocrafts seemingly used the new distortion system developed by the Commonwealth equipped with particle disruptors, hopefully a thorough analysis of the data we recorded will be more conclusive, however, when the Jehnizars encountered them at first it's looked as they were allies."

"Not to question your actions Commander, but hasn't been a little too reckless decide to attack them both at once?"
Asked the Field Commander with genuine curiosity.

"Hardly so."
Answered with conviction Wulfen.
"If we would have waited for the end of the battle the battlecruiser could have been destroyed, and helping the Jehnizars could not give us any guarantee that they would collaborate afterwards."

Norian Dhen observed Wulfen with attention after these words.
A shiver of fear passed through him, the forgotten sensation of a time when the war between sector serrated the Commonwealth in its jaws as a ferocious wolf .
What to do?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

A)Norian Dhen must contact the Battle Marshall immediately, he must be informed of the new developments even if some points haven't been clarified or verified.

B)Norian Dhen should send back Wulfen and his militia with the documents and the enemy captain to confer in person with the Battle Marshall.
It will take more time but there are no risk to be intercepted.

C)Wait for the end of the campaign, send away troops in this moment can be very dangerous with the possibility of an attack from unidentified astrocarsts, and trying to contact the Battle Marshall could also be very dangerous considered that there may be traitors at the highest level that can intercept the message.

Dark Fire

From the observation room of his ship Norian Dhen watched Wulfen's militia astrocrafts become distant points of lights, carrying with them the Jehnizar captain and the documents he provided.
Their orders were to maintain absolute secrecy about the whole matter that could only be communicated to the battle Marshall in person.
"What your decision will be Karl?"
Thought the Field Commander continuing to stare at the cold empty space long after the astrocrafts disappeared in the distance.

Light-years away, in the Theresian Quadrant, Zhenar Xhan was hearing the reports of his reconnaissance officers.
They were approaching their objective while still out of reach of enemy sensors, from what they could gather through the probes the surveillance seemed much lower than expected, quite strange for a planet that hosted the Jehnizar military facilities of that quadrant, working as base for the troops and port for their astrocrafts as well as production and maintenance center for their war fleet.

The commander couldn't shake away the uneasy feeling that accompanied him since when they registered that echo, and Captain Houser, that was sent to investigate, didn't reported yet.

But, as an experienced commander, Zhenar Xhan knew that hesitation can be the worst enemy in war and with grimly determination issued his orders.
"Activate the distortion field, advance at sub-luminous speed, all the battlecruisers take the assigned position according to the tactical data they received."

In few minutes they came in range for launching their attack while the 'condors' and 'vultures' positioned in defense of the Jehnizar base pointed towards them.

However, the effect of the distortion field coupled with the energy shields and heavy armor made the battlecruisers of the Commonwealth almost invulnerable against so few enemies.

Contemporaneously to that the light astrocrafts escorting Zhenar Xhan's battle group launched a barrage of electro-plasma bombs aimed to disrupt the enemy electronic planetary defenses.

The battlecruisers advanced sweeping away the first batch of assailants with their powerful pulse cannons, and assumed position, encircling the planet.

The Jehnizar in a desperate attempt launched a massive missile attack from the planet, while their battlecruiser in orbit, acting as flying bastions, began to fire all their weapons against the incoming menace.

The onslaught severely damaged two of Zhenar Xhan's battlecruisers but didn't stop them.

With efficiency and discipline they swiftly positioned themselves, ready to launch all their nutron bombs at the commander's order.

And the order come, almost immediately, ninety nutron bombs were discharged, penetrating the atmosphere with the deafening cry of the attrition of tons of metal precipitating towards the surface.

"To all ships, retreat."
Prudently ordered Zhenar Xhan, that was the first time that such a massive number of nutron bombs was used, no one could have been really sure of the effects.

In minutes the metal ogive penetrated the surface as torpedoes, planting themselves as ominous seeds.
The shockwaves of the explosions shook the planetary crust as it was made made of wet clay.

All the sensors of the Commonwealth battlecruisers blank out due to the massive ionic emission from the planet.
The Jehnizar astrocrafts in orbit lost control of their propulsion systems and slowly began to drift inside the burning atmosphere.

Zhenar Xhan observed the greenish color of the planet turn to orange-purple in few instants, the chain reaction induced by the neutron emission looked like a burning fire clouded by its own smoke, it was as a giant snake would had encircled the planet in its dark spires.

At that point the few, sparse, ships of the surviving Jehnizars had already fled for some unknown destination inside their territory.

The commander continued to watch as solid rock was transforming into a mass of fluid plasma, illuminating the surrounding space with its lethal combustion, slowly consuming the planet designated with an undescriptive number on the astromaps of the Commonwealth.

The mission had been a complete success, and before them was laid the vast, unexplored, immensity of an hostile territory.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

A)This could be the occasion for obtaining vital informations, advance into Jehnizar territory.
However, Zhenar Xhan will be forced to rely heavily on automatic probes for traveling through an unmapped zone of space, very time consuming.

B)Point towards Karhyen, the lack of informations from Captain Houser it's a source of concern and even more worrisome is the low number of enemy astrocrafts guarding such an important facility, the possibility of a surprise attack couldn't be excluded.

C)Go back to the Green Company headquarters as originally planned, it's the safest option, even considering the possibility of a surprise attack, in this way you will be ready to intervene, if needed, in a number of strategic key points.

C. Mission complete, let's not risk the fleet. A mobile reserve is always useful.
