I wasn't aware the the DS edition had new content. But yeah, from what I see in the internetz, it's not that good.

The fan translation uses the original japanese games. The original names do sound a bit strange since we're all accustomed to the english version names, and the truth is some of the new names were pretty good, but that fucking English Localization did decide to change a shitload of names.

Because to a japanese person, Don sounds odd and foreign. Aside from that, they'd pretty much pronounce Don as Doan; The character for Do is pronounced as a long 'o', as in toe or throw. I don't think there's even a way to phonetically write a word than uses a short 'o' like in Don using japanese characters.
Same basic principle applies to a lot of other names. Vinnegar doesn't sound nearly as stupid if it's not from your language.Their word for Vinegar is Saku. If some demon thing was named Saku you'd just think it's an odd name you've never heard before. The fact that it's a condiment is just a joke over your head. Using the japanese names here is retarded, and deserves a translation that changes it.

But yeah, the first retranslation of Chrono trigger is an atrocious word to word translation from Japanese. It's basically Moonspeak translated to Yoda-speak. The one I'm playing at least manages to sound natural most of the time.

O lol, this battle. When I played it on the snes back then, it was very hard for me, for some reason. I'm not sure why, but it could be that I was too retarded to understand why he was getting healed when I hit his entire body with my awesome elemental double techs. This is why I remember his name.
Also, Taban spends his time crafting armor customized to fit around his daughter's supple teen body, while his crippled wife sleeps through the day upstairs. So gritty~
Also², you were never sure about Fritz's innocence before freeing him. In fact, you never even asked him anything. What if he was a horse rapist, or something? Just because the chancellor wanted to off the guy who kidnapped the princess, doesn't mean that everyone else didn't deserve to be there.
Also³, funny, I don't remember ever talking to the bedridden king. I just always assumed the door to his quarters were locked, I guess.

Doesn't Marle get fucked for healing, lacking a multi target heal, while robo can heal the whole team by himself pretty early anyways? I mean, his magic stat sucks, but half the power is based off level anyways, and there's plenty of magic tabs around. I guess his speed makes him pretty shitty for the role though.
Speed stat is so useful in CT. Makes Lucca a third rate character unfortunately. Plus who ever needs the protect spell? And her default attack sucks. And she's so slow even if she had good dual techs (she doesn't) they wouldn't be worth making the other member wait for her.
Anyways, keep up the good work. Some of my favourite parts coming up.
