Mission 15: Abomination

15-1.png

And here we are once again to protect mankind from the terrors of the Warp in the name of the Emperor. This time our task is simple, we must burn the two rooms surrounded by the circular ones.

15-2.png

We must go to the east, and the chosen soldier to lead the way it's the Vulcan operator, for obvious reasons.

15-3.png

We can't leave our rearguard unprotected, so we'll leave some of our men to take care of the xenos lurking nearby.

15-4.png

The aliens just keep moving from one way to the other without making any hostile movement, waiting to deliver a quick and unexpected blow.

15-5.png

Our task team must get through a long corridor infested with aliens, but they're no match for the power of our Vulcan cannon, we just have to wait a little more...

15-6.png

Now they're closer! Full Auto on them!!

15-7.png

All life that was directly in front of our marine has been squeezed.

15-8.png

The rear team has been attacked by some hostiles, but our defensive position allowed us to take them down with little trouble, some of them are trying to flank us, however, so we must watch the side now.

15-9.png

The Sarge moves to the parallel corridor to deal with the flanking aliens, a bad move because I think I wasted all my AP there and now we must be fucking lucky to survive while in the Overwatch mode.

Also, in the front corridor an alien has gone through our defenses, but he ignores the Marine that was shooting at him and goes straight for our Flamer marine, thankfully he also ran out of AP.

15-10.png

Another splatter of blood in the name of the Emperor!

15-11.png

The Sarge has managed to kill the two xenos thanks to the Emperor's Will, so we adjust our defensive situation to better protect the area.

15-12.png

Meanwhile the task team advances without much trouble, as nothing can really face them.

15-13.png

And some other aliens contribute to expand the pool of blood.

15-14.png

Everything remains steady here.

15-15.png

We're getting closer to the enemy entry points now so we should be more cautious now, we should expect more incoming xenos.

15-16.png

The weapons get jammed, as usual, but there are no aliens close to pose a problem

15-17.png

And those farther are eliminated.

15-18.png

We suffer now the incoming onslaught of aliens, and we don't have any clips left, so we don't have to waste a single bullet now.

15-19.png

Khorne is now pleased.

15-20.png

We'll advance our defense to have a better area controlled by our soldiers.

15-21.png

Time to burn! Our soldier Kotto watches for the xenos while Ledesma goes to start his task.

15-22.png

First room done! Only one to go!!

15-23.png

Nothing new to report here, just the layout of our defense getting done.

15-24.png

It would be a shorter way if we went through the corridor Kotto was facing with the Vulcan cannon, but there are two entry points and we could get slaughtered without even noticing, so we take the longer (but safer) way.

15-25.png

With this setup we have the room in the middle protected by two soldiers, and the only way the aliens can get anywhere it's throught it.

15-26.png

We must hurry!

15-27.png

Now, I don't know what I was thinking when I moved them here. Maybe I got tired of their complaining so I got them closer to the claws of the aliens, other than that, I don't have any excuse for this strategical movement.

15-28.png

The task team is attacked by the rear, but Kotto was expecting them.

15-29.png

Ledesma its on its own now, but this way we have splitted their numbers so it should be safer for him now, besides, he has a fucking powerful flamethrower!

15-30.png

Trouble here... We've lost communication with one of our marines...

15-31.png

100px-Fenix-mug.JPG
We'll face them without fear! We must give time to our task team!

15-32.png

Hopefully they don't need much time...

15-33.png

We have blocked one way, but there are many places where the aliens can get from...

15-34.png

Uh, oh, trouble ahead...

15-35.png

Nothing that a good wall of fire can't solve!

15-36.png

Geisler has protected their backs, but now the Sarge must face alone two xenos, will he succeed?

15-37.png

100px-Fenix-mug.JPG
That was close, I can feel it breathing right in my balls...

15-38.png

Now everything should be safe!

15-39.png

Ledesma advances slowly, protecting himself with fire.

15-40.png

100px-Baird-mug.JPG
Objective complete!

15-41.png

Just one turn until extraction, and just one loss in our team.

15-42.png

Hooray!

15-43.png

With this mission completed, we get two more Experts in our team. We're all sad about the loss of one of our Specialists, but there's more cannon fodder out there.

It's good to see some success after the ongoing misery in the text adventure thread. :salute:

So if I remember right, this game has a config file that actually lets you turn on a variable so that experience does something. Is it actually worth it or just kind of a trivial thing? One frustrating thing I seem to remember was there was no restart level option. I kept trying to get all my dudes to survive (and failing).

If I remember well, if you turned on that variable your soldiers would get a random advantage every level, that would add a modifier to a specific action every time you rolled it. For example if your soldier advanced a level he could get a electronic eye that would add +1 to his aiming throws or something like that.

Faux Edit: I looked at the manual and I couldn't be wronger. If they reach the Veteran level (3) with this feature they get a +1 on rolls, with this remark:

"Respective options must be turned on to have an effect. There is a ranked melee/close combat bonus option and a ranked ranged fire bonus option"

Which I guess means you can get a +1 or a +1 in ranked.

Mission 16: Legion

16-1.png

Welcome again to the briefing room for our next mission! We are again in the same section of the Space Hulk of our last mission so we already know the way we should take. This time we must take 10 items and place them in the circular rooms around the ones we burnt earlier.

16-2.png

So here we are. Every soldier has one of the items at their feet, and as carrying them doesn’t disrupt any of their actions the first thing we’re doing it’s picking them up.

16-3.png

We must be quick so we’ll send all the marines through the upper corridor, we’ll leave temporarily some soldiers to protect the rearguard, though.

16-4.png

This way we’re safe to go.

16-5.png

Our first step into the corridor and we already make contact with the incoming horde, but there’s nothing to worry about.

16-6.png

The rearguard team has been attacked without success, and now it’s time to regroup.

16-7.png

We send all our soldiers to the corridor.

16-8.png

Finally they’re all ready to go.

16-9.png

It’s a bit uncomfortable here but it’s the better way.

16-10.png

However, it’s a good place to get ambushed, so we must watch our front and our back while we advance.

16-11.png

But that’s not enough to stop the aliens with our rusty bolters, that get jammed all the time, we unjam it as the alien stopped right before us.

16-12.png

See you in hell, bitch.

16-13.png

Another one waiting right around the corner, that’s going to receive a hole in its skull.

16-14.png

We are also attacked in the rear, but it was wise setting up someone to watch it.

16-15.png

Now, we’re leaving the corridor and as such we set some to watch the adjacent room from the incoming xenos.

16-16.png

We’re all out from the corridor now and much closer to our objective.

16-17.png

Once again, getting through the middle corridor it’s a dangerous idea, so we’ll get from the auxiliary corridor that we used in our last mission.

16-18.png

Time to move!

16-19.png

The first two destinations are right here.

16-20.png

The first two items are deployed while the rest of the team keeps advancing.

16-21.png

Now that we have two soldiers with their tasks done they will provide support while the rest of the team goes to complete their objectives.

16-22.png

The fire will give us some time to run and set up a better defensive position.

16-23.png

One more item deployed.

16-24.png

And two more, just five to go!

16-25.png

The soldiers we’re leaving behind to protect the rest of the team are using the flamer to block the incoming horde (there are spotted at least 5 xenos), but they seem to be highly resistant to fire.

16-26.png

The rearguard team is ready and the remaining soldiers keep advancing to deploy the rest of the items, using the auxiliary corridor.

16-27.png

Lots of enemy contacts around the corner, we must proceed carefully…

16-28.png

And now let’s unleash hell!!

16-29.png

Two!

16-30.png

Three!

16-31.png

Four!!

16-32.png

More aliens in the distance, we’ll wait for them to get closer

16-33.png

And we set them on fire…

16-34.png

Two deployed items, three more to go!

16-35.png

Nothing can face our mighty steel wall!! NOTHING!!

16-35.png

The aliens are getting slaughtered as they try to come closer to us.

16-37.png

And we reach the door to the room number 8

16-38.png

Item deployed.

16-39.png

We’ll deal with the incoming horde in one time…

16-40.png

One!

16-41.png

Two!

16-42.png

Three!!

16-43.png

We’re almost there…

16-44.png

We block the entrance with fire, to avoid getting interrupted by the xenos…

16-45.png

And we deploy the last 2 items…

16-46.png

Blood and Thunder!!

16-47.png

67 Aliens killed, no casualties, and 7 promoted soldiers, that was indeed a successful mission!!

Mission 17: Annihilation

17-1.png

With such a good name for the mission it should be great! Let’s annihilate some aliens!

But our task differs a little from plain annihilation. We must find three relics located in this section of the Space Hulk and bring them to the safe, the red room in the briefing room.

17-2.png

One extra for this mission, everybody here has Vulcan Cannons!! There are just two soldiers which don’t, sadly they lost an important bet the night before in the canteen.

17-3.png

Looks like we don’t have time to waste in this mission, we open our first door and we find our first opponents.

17-4.png

They can’t overcome the power of the Vulcan cannon.

17-5.png

We’ll hurry to the safe red doors while our Sergeant Rains watches for the incoming aliens.

17-6.png

We’re close.

17-7.png

There’s no more activity in the entry point Sgt. Rains was watching so he regroups with the rest of the team that’s about to enter to the next room.

17-8.png

We clear the room for the rest of the team.

17-9.png

The room is clear and our backs secured by the red doors and look what we found! One of the relics we need to recover!

17-10.png

With the power of our Vulcan Cannons nothing can stand in our way!

17-11.png

Go go go!

17-12.png

Soldier Thomas has the relic and kills one of the xenos, the Emperor will be pleased with him.

17-13.png

We don’t have enough AP to kill all the remaining aliens in this round so we’ll have to stay in Overwatch mode and pray.

17-14.png

Our prayers were answered and the aliens are now a pool of blood between our soldier’s feet. Both sergeants will watch the rear while we split the remaining marines to search for the two other relics.

17-15.png

Sgt. Bradley wastes the remaining round in his weapon and dies in the dark…

17-16.png

There’s no time for mourning! Let’s avenge his death slaughtering all the aliens that dare to get in our way!

17-17.png

We’ll give one chance to our bolter marine.

17-18.png

But he wastes it. Time for the vulcan cannon to solve our problems.

17-19.png

We’ve split our soldiers in four teams, this way we’ll find the remaining relics faster.

17-20.png

One team is heading to the safe, one is watching the rear and the other two keep searching.

17-21.png

The rear is now more or less safe and the team that was there now goes to join the search.

17-22.png

No luck yet.

17-23.png

Well, death was close for our soldier, but just a pull of the trigger to finish that bastard.

17-24.png

We don’t have any fusion cutters with us, so we blow open the blocking with our Vulcan Cannon.

17-25.png

And now it’s time to have some fun with the Full Auto mode.

17-26.png

Uh oh, trouble here, our bolter soldier must take care of four incoming xenos that are attacking from our back. Maybe we shouldn’t have put him to watch.

17-27.png

The bet he made pays off now, if he had a Vulcan Cannon maybe he could have succeed but now he’s history. Remember kids: DON’T BET IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DIE!

17-28.png

The Sarge will have to take care of them with his Vulcan Cannon.

17-29.png

One of the teams has had luck! We’ve found another relic!

17-30.png

Sarge is laying waste of the aliens that are trying to attack the rest of his team.

17-31.png

Meanwhile one of the teams has almost reached the safe to deliver the relic.

17-32.png

We have the second relic and we hurry to get it to the safe.

17-33.png

We’ve also found the third relic that was right behind our soldier Bell. We don’t have pictures of the discovery so we’ll just show you our Sarge kicking some alien ass.

17-34.png

Come on, hurry to the safe!

17-35.png

Close, but not enough!

17-36.png

Let’s try it out in long range.

17-37.png

The 2nd Relic Team is surrounded by aliens, but we won’t fall now.

17-38.png

Good support.

17-39.png

And another one to the kill count.

17-40.png

We’re sending the marines with the remaining relics to the safe and the rest of the soldiers is watching for any more incoming aliens.

17-41.png

One relic almost at the safe.

17-42.png

And the other one following close.

17-43.png

Everything is secured!!

17-44.png

Mission Complete

17-45.png

A quite balanced mission this time. 2 K.I.A soldiers, 6 new experts in the team and a total of 111 aliens killed.

Mission 18: Nemesis

18-1.png

Time to kill some aliens destroy some terminals.

In this mission we are in a small area of the Space Hulk and our task is simple: We must destroy the 9 terminals we can see on the map. A small map doesn't mean a easy map, usually is the other way around because the aliens tend to be closer to our marines.

18-2.png

We deploy next to the first four terminals, so we hurry to destroy the first one.

18-3.png

And the second one.

18-4.png

A good start!

18-5.png

Third terminal.

18-6.png

And fourth.

18-7.png

Is it really going to be that easy?

18-8.png

Apparently yes! We head to the next room.

18-9.png

One xeno tries to ambush our troops but they were ready for it.

18-10.png

And we reach the red safe door. This is a difficult area because right behind us is an alien entry point, so we must take our soldiers fast to the corridor and close the door.

18-11.png

So far no activity on the entry point, so we can proceed as normal

18-12.png

We're having more luck than usual, let's not complain about it.

18-13.png

We're getting close to the next room and as such we must be careful because there are aliens lurking there.

18-14.png

Our remaining marines enter the corridor and we close the door, just in time when we detect activity in the entry point.

18-15.png

Our mighty red door blocks three incoming aliens, that was close!

18-16.png

Fuck! That was unexpected! Who gave the Vulcan Cannon to such a incompetent?

18-17.png

Holy shit! That was too much luck for a mission...

18-18.png

Revenge!

18-19.png

REVENGE!

18-20.png

We've had heavy losses and we can't afford to lose any more men now. We must spread to both sides so we don't get surrounded.

18-21.png

Let's hope we don't get too much jammed weapons or else we're fucked.

18-22.png

That alien is condemned, but we're going to have more trouble with the one that's going to appear right in the middle of our backs.

18-23.png

A soldier watching the entry point with his bolter should be enough, though.

18-24.png

Apparently not enough, but thanks to the Emperor the alien runs out of AP in front of him and we can finish it in our turn.

18-25.png

Sarge proceeds to destroy one of the terminals in this room.

18-26.png

And another one.

18-27.png

Next turn, no enemy sighting, one more terminal destroyed.

18-28.png

One more slashed to pieces.

18-29.png

And the final one!!

18-30.png

Victory at sea space!

18-31.png

A bad final report for this mission, but we've completed it which it's what matters and we can rejoice for the Emperor will be pleased.

Mission 19: Indestructible

19-1.png

Welcome again to the briefing room for our next mission. Today we must recover another relic that’s located somewhere in this section of the Space Hulk, to later deliver it to the marked position.

19-2.png

We don’t know where the relic is located, so we should spread to cover a wider area in search of it. As we have two teams in this mission we shouldn’t have any problems in dividing our men.

19-3.png

We’ll have three teams, one at the left, one at the middle and the last at the right. The one at the right is going to be the one with more trouble, as there’s a large spawn area with lots of entry points and a maze section over there.

19-4.png

We score our first kill.

19-5.png

And more xenos come to get killed

19-6.png

The left team must proceed carefully now, there are 3 aliens waiting for them in the next room, and Lovejoy it’s too close in the corridor to make it safe.

19-7.png

As expected, his weapon gets jammed, but the alien stops before him so it’s time to finish it off.

19-8.png

See you in hell.

19-9.png

And you too!

19-10.png

The middle team doesn’t have any problems in such a wide area.

19-11.png

And the right team just works his way blocking their backs with the flamer.

19-12.png

We’re right below the huge spawn area, carefully now.

19-13.png

Goddamn! And I said I should’ve proceeded carefully… I forget to count the remaining AP of my flamer marine and so he stops right before the aliens unable to do anything at all!

19-14.png

We can just pray for the Emperor…

19-15.png

But his faith was weak…

19-16.png

Take vengeance my brothers!

19-17.png

This area remains secure.

19-18.png

Looks like we should ‘ve stayed far from this area.

19-19.png

So far we haven’t had any luck finding the relic, where could it be?

19-20.png

Not in the burning room either, and we’ve already searched most of the area.

19-21.png

We clean some of the infestation.

19-22.png

All right, all the fucking rooms are explored and we have marines set on every entry point to kill any incoming aliens. Where is the fucking relic? (Emperor forgive me)

19-23.png

Oh shit… there’s one area we haven’t explored… the spawn area maze. We’re going to have trouble up there.

19-24.png

Only one marine should enter, so the rest can cover him while he quickly retreats.

19-25.png

Where are you relic?

19-26.png

Gotcha! Now run to the exit!

19-27.png

Allright, we’re getting out.

19-28.png

But one xeno kills our flamer marine and then our carrier is also killed!

19-29.png

We pick it up with another marine! Run goddamit!

19-30.png

Almost halfway.

19-31.png

He gets attacked but survives the assault and kills the alien.

19-32.png

As he was attacked in melee, he lets the relic fall. I manage to forget this and so our marine proceeds without the relic in his hands.

19-33.png

Go back and retrieve it!

19-34.png

Come on, we’re almost finished.

19-35.png

We can assume we’re safe now.

19-36.png

And the relic is in position.

19-37.png

One more victory in the name of the Emperor!

19-38.png

Three KIA soldiers this time. This was a dangerous area, we could’ve had more losses so it’s a pretty fair end of the mission.

Mission 20: Original Sin

20-1.png

This is it marines! We finally made it to the center of the Space Hulk. In this, our most glorious mission, we must find and destroy the Swarm Leader.

Do it! For the Emperor!

20-2.png

Here we have our two teams, ready for action.

20-3.png

We have a lot of ways to spread our men, so we'll send them in teams of two to provide a better defense against the incoming horde.

20-4.png

Well, okay, looks like we will regroup our teams after all.

20-5.png

Two teams will make it easy, also, there's not a lot of alien entry points so we just spend a pair of marines to watch for them.

20-6.png

Once we reach the wider rooms, we can lock the safe doors to avoid incoming aliens from our backs.

20-7.png

And first safe rooms reached, this is a lot easier than we thought.

20-8.png

We're advancing at a steady pass and so far we're doing great.

20-9.png

Why, hello there!

20-10.png

Holy shit! They killed Ferro!

20-11.png

Die! Die! DIE!

20-12.png

And you too!

20-13.png

One unfortunate casualty, but we're still doing fine and the mission isn't compromised.

20-14.png

Some more xeno kills, nothing to write home about.

20-15.png

This could've been close, but the might of the Emperor bolts stops it.

20-16.png

We're closer!! The Swarm Leader must be there! Where all the blood is! (As expected)

20-17.png

It's a large area over there, easy to defend and to assault.

20-18.png

We're almost done, I can hear that xeno breathing...

20-19.png

We must keep some marines here to defend our annihilation team from the xenos that will appear.

20-20.png

The rest of the marines will go, of course, to hunt the Swarm Leader, we don't know how many of them we will need...

20-21.png

Those aliens were very close, but they're dead meat now.

20-22.png

Burn in the flames of hell, you alien scum.

20-23.png

The annihilation team is almost in position...

20-24.png

And four marines should be enough to protect the large hangar.

20-25.png

Are we all ready?

20-26.png

Two marines advance, Lovejoy starts firing his bolter over the damned Swarm Leader.

20-27.png

The Swarm Leader is a huge monstruosity though, so Lovejoy's bolter is not enough, Distephano must help him and unleashes his bolter over the alien.

20-28.png

And the beast is slain...

20-29.png

We did it!! WE DID IT!!! We killed the Swarm Leader of the Space Hulk!!

20-30.png

Only a single dead soldier (that could've been avoided). Not bad for taking down the enemy leader. But now we must scape this damned Space Hulk...

Mission 21: Dead Orbit

21-1.png

This is it, the final mission for Alien Assault...

21-2.png

In this mission we have to get to the teleporter that's at the end of the map, with a shitload of aliens in between.

21-3.png

You can't tell from the screens how fucking hard this mission is.

21-4.png

In fact, there's no skill involved in this mission at all, just set your soldier in overwatch and pray for him

21-5.png

What I did here is stay in the spot with the wall beside me waiting in overwatch, here the aliens would approach me just from my front.

21-6.png

Then, I would advance and kill the aliens I could to later go back and pray to live for another turn.

21-7.png

This mission is a masochist's wet dream.

Our marine must face an almost endless horde of aliens just to get home safe.

21-9.png

This is more of a bonus mission, really, as we just killed the Swarm Leader.

21-10.png

And only to save a single sergeant...

21-11.png

I did this mission like 10 times with no luck.

21-12.png

And of course the weapon would get jammed all the time.

21-13.png

In the most hazardous situations...

21-14.png

But we did it...

21-15.png

All the xenos are dead...

21-16.png

We killed 18 of them... EIGHTEEN

21-17.png

And survived two melees...

21-18.png

But we're safe now...

Thanks to those of you that took some time to read my first LP ever, even if it was just one update!

Game looks sweet - no wonder that 'Dex didn't give a fuck generally (same happened with my Incubation LP).

:bro:

For LPing this.

Thanks for the love BROS

And no, there's not cutscene nor a simple briefing text at the end. The campaign itself plays more like a series of individual maps than anything else.

In later versions they added more campaigns though, and I think some of them have some kind of plot.
