Battle.net, the website for Blizzard's famous online gaming service, announces that patch 1.11 for Diablo 2 (which, to my rough count, is the 13th patch for the venerable game, which turned five on June 20) is coming. There isn't much information about the patch, what it will do or when it will be released. All there is is this: Great evil has returned to the world of Diablo 2. Will you answer the call to save Sanctuary?
Patch 1.11 is coming.... As well as some snazzy screenshots. Hopefully, the wait won't be as long as it was for 1.10. And maybe, just maybe, we'll wheel out POWAH ARMOR MANS again.

Thunderbolt does Diablo II ( Review ) posted by Vault Dweller on Wed 10 November 2004, 22:49:07 More info on Diablo 2 - More info on Blizzard Entertainment
Somebody told Thunderbolt Games guys that Diablo II is out, and they've jumped at the opportunity to write an early review
Diablo II is a PC role-playing game which as a genre differ slightly from the console based roleplayers in that there are no defined characters and the plot is a loose storyline around which you build up a character by killing lots and lots of enemies. It has an online element but doesn't quite fit the profile of a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG such as Ultima or Everquest as in essence it's a lot more basic, offering little over constant fighting and some trading online. You are given a choice of five character types who you will then take through the game levelling up and building skills.
Such a thoughtful analysis. There are 11 comments on this article. Click here to comment.
Fallout 2 vs Diablo 2 ( Game news ) posted by Vault Dweller on Tue 23 March 2004, 16:44:03 More info on Diablo 2
If you think that the GameSpy poll was stupid, wait till you see this article. Some guy actually tries to compare Fallout 2 to Diablo 2 apple-to-apple style.
Fallout II is set in a future after a nuclear war has devastated the world. You start the game in a "tribal" village, composed mainly of tents and people with spears. You are sent on a quest to recover a GECK (Garden of Eden Creation Kit) which will save your village and create a, well, Garden of Eden to live in. You set off, kill a bunch of stuff, get a lot of levels, plunder a bunch of cool stuff, kill off the bad guys and win the game.
Otherwise, the side quests are pretty impressive. Yeah, you get the "help Torr defend the cows" ones, but you get the "Find the missing watch" quests which involve dynamiting an outhouse. Fallout II actually has characters, too. Yeah, I know that Alkor is a wannabe necro, and Charsi has a thing for barbarians, but they don't really compare to, say, Sulik who talks to the bone in his nose, or Fergus, who had deluded himself into believing that he runs a nuclear power plant single handedly.
Wow!

Diablo 2 1.10 Patch is finally out! ( Game news ) posted by Spazmo on Tue 28 October 2003, 23:20:35 More info on Diablo 2 - More info on Blizzard Entertainment
Blizzard have (at long last) patched Diablo 2! Fans have been waiting for this patch, heralded as the most significant D2 patch ever, for some time now since the game was previously horribly broken. Here's the only really important part of the fix list:
Increased difficulty for high-level players to reduce future exploitation of the game system.
It's about fucking time! Too bad I sold my copy ages ago...

Diablo II 1.10 update... update ( Game news ) posted by Spazmo on Thu 28 August 2003, 02:20:56 More info on Diablo 2 - More info on Blizzard Entertainment
In a post on the Battle.Net Forums, GFraizer, Blizzard dude extraordinaire, posted something about the status of patch 1.10 for Diablo II.
We're making good progress toward the final release of Diablo II 1.10. It is now our highest priority. Thanks for your help testing the patch. Thanks for your patience in waiting for this patch. This is by far the largest patch we've ever made in terms of game changes. This is about 1/2 of an expansion worth of new content. As such it requires a lot of testing. Keep on battling.
And I had to go and sell my copy of Diablo II and its expansion. Good to see developers maintaining their games so long after release, too.

Diablo 2 patch 1.10 chat log stuff ( Interview ) posted by Saint_Proverbius on Fri 20 June 2003, 03:32:53 More info on Diablo 2
DiabloII.net has posted this chat log which asks and answers various questions about the upcoming patch for Diablo 2 that a lot of people seem eager to check out. Like these:
Q: Will necromancers skeletons be improved?
Blizzard: Oh my, yes. We are bumping up the life and damage your Skeletons get from Skeleton Mastery, as well as really beefing them up in their individuasl skills.
Q: Have you made any changes to casting delays?
Blizzard: We've added casting delays to Valkyrie and Shadow Master. They are beefed up to compensate for the delays.
Better skeletons is always good. I wonder if Diablo can still wack them all with a nova, though.

Diablo 2 1.10 patch soon.. No, seriously ( Development info ) posted by Saint_Proverbius on Sun 11 May 2003, 02:11:26 More info on Diablo 2
Over on the Diablo 2 page of Battle.net, there's some information about the long, long awaited 1.10 patch for the title including that it's currently in QA right now. Here's just a taste of what all they posted on there:
- More Challenging Gameplay - Diablo II players who adventure in the Nightmare and Hell difficulty levels will experience a world in which the monsters have become more powerful and substantially harder to defeat. Players may need to develop new tactics or enlist aid from others in order to face these strengthened minions. The monster improvements include enhanced AI, more skills, greater damage, and higher resistances.
- A New World - Players can expect to encounter more randomly distributed unique monsters in every locale and even a few guest monsters where players wouldn't normally expect them. In addition, characters above level 70 will require increasingly more playtime in order to gain levels.
- Enhanced Skills - The skills of each player-character class have been thoroughly revised. On top of that, a new system of "synergies" has been added to each character's skill set. Allotting a point to certain skills will result in synergy bonuses to one or more of that character's corresponding skills. After the patch is released, visit The Arreat Summit for more details.
Let's hope they fixed the skills so that putting points in a lower skill can augment greater skills instead of them just being replacements, therefore a waste of skill points later on.

Battle.net Under Attack! ( Game news ) posted by Exitium on Fri 25 October 2002, 05:08:58 More info on Diablo 2
Blizzard reports that a Denial of Service attack is currently being perpetuated on Battle.net, the favorite multiplayer game hosting service for Diablo, Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3, that is causing the server to crash by some people who aren't terribly interested in winning any awards for being nice.
Blizzard states that users involved in this malicious act will be banned, and their associated characters and accounts promptly deleted.
