Apparently we've missed this one. A while back the Intoxicate Team, the guys behind the post-apoc RPG Afterfall, decided to have their own Developers' Blog. There's only one post in it right now:
Currently the work on Afterfall are very intense. And before we gonna share how much energy drinks we need each day, and how much instant noodles we eat, we need to clarify a few things:
- Afterfall was the fans' project which has been in development for the last three years,
- Phase of pre-production was so plentiful that we could create not one but even three games,
When starting the studio and professional phase of production the world was analyzed and effect of that was putting only a few most characteristic locations into the game,
- The game mechanics has changed slightly, but you will still be able to find most of the features which were announced before. You will be informed about these few changes in our next posts,
- The action takes place few years before we originally planned, and it's still nonlinear and very interesting,
Many of you worry that we cut out many interesting features - we will be honest with you: the game is smaller than we dreamed three years ago. However, we can assure you that it will be one of the biggest cRPG games ever,
Many of you wonder if game will ever be released, because we have been making it for a few years. It is a wrong way of thinking, as we were only on the phase of designing locations, quests and the whole Afterfall world. The actual phase of production has started in July 2008.
You need to understand that the final product will be the same Afterfall which you were waiting for, but thanks to Nicolas Games and their support, it will be much better and more professional.
In our next post you will be able to read a little about our fantastic Life System which is one of the most important features, and something you haven't seen in any other cRPG game. We are sure that you will be very excited about life it! Yeah, I'm certainly excited about life it. Now, who could've predicted some features would be cut? Anyway, still hoping something decent will come out of it. I could see someone bored and angry dissecting this devblog post and comparing it to the former visions of grandeur presented by the devs, though.

Afterfall site rererelaunched ( Game news ) posted by Elwro on Tue 09 September 2008, 01:28:44 More info on Afterfall - More info on Intoxicate Interactive
Yup, it's that time of the year. After changing its title and acquiring a publisher (Nicolas Games), the post-apoc game to open a new era in PC RPG history and elevate the admittedly pedestrian pastime to unparalleled levels of sophistication and wit, has been given a new website. I'd say it has nice design, but then again I'm a daltonist. They also have a forum for you to bitch on.
The numbers of "re"'s in the title of the newspost is by no means an accident, having been meticulously calculated and thoroughly checked.

The prestigious RPGCodex magazine ( N/A ) posted by JarlFrank on Thu 10 April 2008, 20:52:37 More info on Afterfall - More info on Intoxicate Interactive
We're apparently a magazine now, and prestigious. At least that's what the Afterfall press release says.
The Afterfall crew – Intoxicate Interactive Group, currently: Nicolas Games Intoxicate – was an independent crew of game developers and gamers, who spent over 3 years on the project of a post-nuclear computer role-playing game with a storyline based in central Europe. Afterfall was announced by many Internet sites in Poland and worldwide. News also featured numerous interviews, amongst all an interview with the project’s lead designer, published in the prestigious "RPGCodex" magazine.
That's right, we're mentioned in an official press release as a very prestigious magazine. I don't think the guy who wrote this ever read any thread in here.

Afterfall gets some sponsoring ( Company news ) posted by JarlFrank on Sun 06 April 2008, 17:07:31 More info on Afterfall - More info on Intoxicate Interactive
The Polish post-apocalyptic RPG Afterfall has recieved some money by the Polish publisher Nicolas Games. Which means they've finally found a publisher. Read the news here, on a thread in RPGWatch.
Covr writes in to say the Polish post-apoc project Afterfall has received a financial boost from new Polish publisher, Nicolas Games.
Heading over to NMA, it seems Nicolas bought/hired Intoxicate to work on Afterfall as an internal studio. Apparently Nicolas raised ~USD$1.2M recently in a stock market float.

Codex Interview with Afterfall lead designer ( Site news ) posted by JarlFrank on Wed 09 January 2008, 20:54:57 More info on Afterfall
I've interviewed the lead designer of the post apocalyptic RPG Afterfall, and received a nice and lengthy pile of answers.
Will there be multiple solutions for quests, and different outcomes depending on your choices? If yes, to what extent? Do you have any example of a quest?
Quests will have many solutions, most of which will only be available to a player character with specific skills. Thanks to the plot bypasses you will often come upon completely alternative solutions, for example, to convince someone to help you, you will use acquaintance with some important characters. It is worth to mention that certain choices in performing a quest will bear various, sometimes long-term consequences. Some of the suggested paths may also prove to be dead-ends.
As for the endings, we have adapted for ourselves the brilliant, but for an unknown reason never repeated solution from Fallout – the modular epilogue. After finishing the game and watching the outro presenting the consequence of the path you have chosen, you will also be able to see the fate of the world and its individual locations which you have influenced by your actions or non-action.

Polish Afterfall interview has been translated ( N/A ) posted by JarlFrank on Wed 28 November 2007, 17:24:43 More info on Afterfall
Remember this newspost about a Polish interview with the Afterfall developers?
Well, the thing has finally been translated, and it contains some nice info about the game.
About Fallout 3, much suggests that, like Oblivion, the game will be much closer to action RPG than a genuine computer RPG, the genre of which Fallout was considered an epitome. We once wrote, half in jest, that our team are “creating a competition for Fallout 3”. Nowadays we wouldn’t write that – the two games drastically differ in the methodology of their creation, as well as the hierarchy of what is important for the cRPG genre.
So, basically that should mean that Fallout 3 will stand no chance against Afterfall, if they manage to keep all the promises they made until now.
Just follow the link below to read the whole thing.
Thanks for the news to: Brother None

Afterfall gets a new engine ( Game news ) posted by Ausir on Sat 17 June 2006, 18:10:32 More info on Afterfall
Kolos, one of the makers of one of the countless Polish vapo... I mean, indie post-apocalyptic cRPGs, Afterfall (previously known as Bourgeoisie), has sent me this press release:
Unigine Corp., creators of a high-quality graphics engine – Unigine, and Intoxicate Interactive have signed a license agreement for the engine. The agreement is so favorable for Intoxicate Interactive that the young developers do not have to pay any fees up front and can focus on making their game. Unigine developers emphasize the need for cooperation with both young and innovative development groups as well as providing middleware solutions to large established companies. The decision of Unigine Corp. was influenced by the professional quality of work at Intoxicate Interactive that has just completed the pre-production of its first game – Afterfall. The Unigine engine shall be used to develop both a demo version of Afterfall and the final product.
The Unigine engine has powerful 3D render, integrated physics, GUI, built-in scripting system, sound module (all of this is available both under Linux and MS Windows), and supports most of modern technologies like background data streaming, soft shadows, HDR and much more. Unigine improves the appeal of the Afterfall, making it indistinguishable from large-scale commercial projects both with regard to graphics and physics.
“Acquiring Unigine has enabled us to drastically improve the pace of our work on Afterfall. However, we are still looking for additional funds and growth opportunities. Please visit Afterfall Marketing, where you can learn more on our initiative” said Andrzej Koloska, founder of Intoxicate Interactive.
“All of us were amazed of what Afterfall team have already created on the basis of Unigine, these guys surpassed our expectations about capabilities of our own engine. We do believe in Afterfall team because they managed to go so far in the development of their project without any financing. That’s why we have supported them by providing Unigine technologies for free at the period while they have no publisher or any kind of investor. I’m sure that this going to be a great game if someone will support this talented team” commented Denis Shergin, CEO of Unigine Corp.
I didn't bother to read the whole PR crap, but some of you might want to.There are 21 comments on this article. Click here to comment.
Bourgeoisie shows outdoorsy screens ( Game news ) posted by Vault Dweller on Mon 11 July 2005, 14:19:23 More info on Afterfall
There are 3 brand new Bourgeoisie: Pearl of the Wastelands (a good name for a pirate game!) screens and some blurb at NMA:
At the moment, we're working on perfecting our 'Oi'Bużuj™' game mechanics to increase its realism levels. The world design is proceeding better than we had initially expected, and for the while we're at the stage of advanced location design for the West andnearly in mid-work on the East. The Techdemo which we're preparing for you for the end of this summer will be set in the mountain range. Here you can see the preliminary looks of the location, in which you'll live through your first adventures in the world of Bourgeoisie. Check out also the Gallery, in which we've posted some hitherto unpublished concept art. NMA denizens loved the screens, so go and take a look.
Thanks for the update, kolos

Bourgeoisie screens at NMA ( Game news ) posted by Saint_Proverbius on Mon 06 June 2005, 09:44:41 More info on Afterfall
No Mutants Allowed has some screenshots of Bourgeoisie. You may remember this game as the one that's kind of like Fallout being written by Pollacks. I tried to get our original Pollack news guy to post this, but he was busy trying to screw in a light bulb. Apparently, that takes all day! Anyway, enjoy.
But I'm not angry or bitter or nothing. That's the important thing.
Thanks for the tip, kolos!

Bourgeoisie update ( Game news ) posted by Ausir on Sat 19 March 2005, 21:19:09 More info on Afterfall - More info on Intoxicate Interactive
Bourgeoisie, one of the numerous Polish post-apocalyptic projects most of which are doomed to become vaporware, has updated its new website, no longer hosted at No Mutants Allowed.
First of all the project's developers - the ChickenHead Team have changed the game's official name to “Bourgeoisie: Pearl of the Wastelands”, so you can now use the nice looking B:PotW acronym instead of pondering on how the hell "Bourgeoisie" is spelt. Second of all their website has experienced a complete makeover. They've made a new layout, added a few new sections and posted some new articles and added new content to their gallery.
Beside that, the ChickenHead Team have announced that they are currently in an advanced stage of design. Their English forum is still at No Mutants Allowed.
