More info on noeGNUd

noGNUd, the project that's trying to spruce up the graphics of Nethack and SLASH'EM, has been updated to version 0.6.1.

------------------------------------------------------------
released as 0.6.1
------------------------------------------------------------

noegnud-0.6.0-5-noegnud-0.6.0-6.diff
added a check for reference-file existance on startup.

noegnud-0.6.0-4-noegnud-0.6.0-5.diff
added support for slashem-0.0.7E1

noegnud-0.6.0-3-noegnud-0.6.0-4.diff
noegnud was still attempting to load tilesets from it's old data location when requesting a tileset load at runtime.

noegnud-0.6.0-2-noegnud-0.6.0-3.diff
check if a tileset exists before attempting to load it resulting in more sensical error messages.

noegnud-0.6.0-1-noegnud-0.6.0-2.diff:
when an image fails to load the error string's mem was free'd before it was used.

noegnud-0.6.0-0-noegnud-0.6.0-1.diff:
recursive string searching sometimes led to unstable results or a crash.

I think it's time for some more screenshots of this project.

noeGNUd up to 0.6.0 ( Development info )

More info on noeGNUd

noeGNUd, the improved graphical varient of both nethack and SLASH'EM has updated to version 0.6.0. For those looking for a little nethack action and like graphics, bookmark this sucker.

this release includes many graphical changes, and stability fixes, as well as the inclusion of a windows installer and slashem-0.0.7E0 for windows as well as linux.

linux version still offers slashem-0.0.6E4F8 for those of you who wish to play a stable version.

noegnud now uses a single tileset base for all variants, this move is inline with the direction we are headed towards a full 3d implementation, as individual 3d models require a bit more detail and space than a single tile, and data structure therefore is paramount.

if you miss the "classic" tilesets, dont worry I'll put them up as seperate data addon packs shortly.

Good luck on making all ten gazillion monster models, guys!

noeGNUd - Nethack in 3D ( Development info )

More info on noeGNUd

For those interested, John Shaw, whom you may remember from The Absurd Nethack Tile project which we also use here on our forum to represent Nethack, has emailed me with word that him and entro-p have teamed up to work on a 3D version of Nethack and the popular varient known as SLASH'EM. The project is known as noeGNUd.

Keep in mind that these screenshots are of an early version, and the goal of noeGNUd is to eventually replace all the graphics with 3D models. There is a playable beta version that you can download now if you want, as well.

Like the site says, it's all about choice.
