Today we learned that Aterdux Entertainment's Legends of Eisenwald finally has a release date. If all goes according to plan, it should be arriving on the virtual shelves of its Kickstarter backers and Steam Early Accessors on July 2nd, which according to the latest Kickstarter update puts the game at five and a half years of development. Here's a cinematic trailer that Aterdux commissioned in honor of the occasion, with characteristic Eisenwald vocals courtesy of singer-composer Ressa Schwarzwald :

In case you're curious, according to the update, those are all in-game assets, which allowed Aterdux to produce the trailer relatively cheaply. Anyway, good news.

I've been neglecting this game for a long time in favor of games that are probably not as good.
The shame I feel...

I'll play it for sure.

Ressa Schwarzwald is cool.

Damn, despite following with great interest during its Kickstarter campaign I had pretty much forgotten about it. Sweet to see it'll finally be released, I had been looking forward to play it.

Nice music, like it.

Damn, I simply won't have enough time this summer to play all these games coming out. Anyway, good luck Aterdux :salute:

What an irrational battle. Medieval warfare during winter! Not only that, but we also have cavalry charging down the road and defenders aren't hiding between their carts, which would secure their victory, but take cavalry head one in a battle who is dumber. I hope tactics in this game are better than in trailer.

Armies usually didn't march in winter. Doesn't mean nobody ever fought in winter. And the problem lies more with cavalry charging pikemen who are ready for them.
Also: Taking cinematic trailers (and games) way too seriously ITT.

If you look a bit closer at the video you will see that it's late autumn. And there are plenty of historical records for battles in winter. Nothing huge of course, but smaller skirmishes were all over the place.

I am really looking forward this game, waiting for the unavoidable 6 months of post release polishing though.

I think we might avoid that in the larger part. We started English closed beta in January and some are still testing. We polished the language as much as we could. The game itself is stable and runs well and we know what major bugs are still left to fix. Granted, I don't think we will catch all the bugs - some are still impossible to reproduce. But the game will be playable where maybe several times you would need to restart it to avoid an issue or two. I guess we will see :)

Why do all these cinematics have to be made like the audience has the emotional maturity of a teen.

I don't really mind to wait, I haven't finished Divinity, Wasteland2 and Pillars, I just can't do it knowing there are enhanced versions on the way, I barely replay games anymore so I prefer to play the most polished versions available.

Yes, the run into a wall of spears tactic works everytime. ;)
Easy win for cavalry hier. Hard to stop just with a pike over 500-600kg of power :)

Looking forward to this though and am hoping Ihre Kampf to get this produced pays off. :salute:
We hope so too! Unsere Kampf it is :) (not to mix up with instances of my!)
