There was more Pillars of Eternity at Gamescom today, once again starring Josh Sawyer and Adam Brennecke, and this time with a less annoying host. Adam does a better job this time, and gets a cosmetic pet pig as a reward for his efforts. In addition, there's also a shorter gameplay video over at GameStar that focuses on character creation.

GameStar also got their hands on some new screenshots of the game:

It's noticeable that Obsidian are far less shy about showing off spell effects, compared to July's initial gameplay demonstration.

Update: But wait, there's more! This evening is also Paradox FanCon, and Pillars of Eternity made an appearance there as well:

So many videos.

Big Head Mode is stupid and ruins the mood they claim trying to set.

Everything else looks sweet though.

wut? The Sawyer claims PE is supposed to be 'dark' and 'gritty' and 'realistic'. Big Fukkin' Head Cheap head Mode ruins that. FFS

Pretty sure they're going for the same mood as BG1/2 which had a lot of lighthearted stuff.

It's just an easteregg. It's not like it will be required.

Now resolve affecting interrupts on the other hand... :M

Must be painful giving birth to a godlike.

Josh said it ususally ends up resulting in death, if not complications for the mother.
I wonder how it feels to be Josh and make up so much shit on the fly

Take it for what it's worth, but most of the stuff that Josh tells the public about the game is usually detailed in a doc somewhere. It is pretty rare that he mentions something that wasn't already discussed somewhere internally. Because our game is so narrative heavy it causes a lot of these questions to get asked throughout development by the devs.

For example, the godlike example is something that was previously brought up internally.

It's reassuring to know that somewhere there is a design document titled: The Implications of Adra : Arches and Flying Buttresses

This game is looking better and better. It isn't even out and I'm already anxious to hear about the expansion.

I really hope that they make a wide variety of games in the Pillars of Eternity world. I am sure they can have different continents and planes that open up a multitude of settings. An Eastern European setting ala-Ravenloft might be cool. I can see some fun in going for something like a pulp Solomon Kane like setting too.

I don't doubt it.

Looking forward to a freaky birth-of-a-godlike scene in the game ;)
