Games Workshop has partnered with Eutechnyx to develop a new game titled Warhammer 40K: Storm of Vengeance.

There is little known about the title save that it is called a "Lane Strategy" game and the focus of the game will be defending a planet with just 100 marines.

It will be developed for both mobile devices and PC.

First a yet another PG clone
Now a yet another tower defense game

Why can't there be at least a single good and proper WH40K wargame?

This is downright incredible. GW have a license that literally oozes money all over it, and they decide to spend it on nothing but shovelware instead of, I dunno, Dawn of War fucking 3 or something.

Reading this:

I had hopes it could be an x-com style game.

Fixored; Would kill for another Game where you can use Titans, Orbital Bombardments, Orbital Deep Strikes and such... Something like Pacific General/Star General in WH40K setting instead of yet another squad/platoon level tactical game; but even X-Com game aka another Chaos Gate would be good.

I'd love to see a Dawn of War 3 if it would be similar to DoW 1 rather than DoW 2. Maybe I gave up on 2 too soon, but it didn't grab me AT ALL, I was really disappointed. (Do most people like 2? Am I missing something?)

You're right though, it seems like they squander the license. I just bought the new Space Hulk when it went on sale, and it completely blows.

And has there ever been a Warhammer Fantasy cRPG? I would love to see that.

DoW2 is a mixed bag. It's all things considered vastly inferior to DoW1, but it's got some high points, as well.

OC single-player is irredeemable shit, but its multiplayer was actually fairly fun and kinda different. The abysmal campaign was fixed pretty well in Chaos Rising, the first expansion, which even added some replayability/C&C and did away with a fuckton of nuisances that plagued the OC. Also added a new race for MP. Retribution single-player campaign(s) were incredibly half-arsed, but still much better than OC at least. Also, new MP race.

Converting DoW from Base building RTS into RPG/Squad Tactic Game Hybrid had much sense as far as Space Mehrines are concerned; they Operate from Strike Cruiser, deep strike into objective and not waste time and resources into building bases and resource gathering; Same for Gayos Marines, Eldar, Dark Eldar and Tiranids... to be honest only races which need bases are IG, Orcs and in some way Necrons with their mobile Monoliths.

It's nice to see that GW's patented Touch of Shit (TM) is in effect even when they're licensing their IP. Coming next - a partnership with Zynga.

They did do Epic 2 (or 4, rather). It was Epic: Armageddon. Just like every other member of the ill-fated 'Specialist Games', the money it drew was piss-all compared to SPESSMEREHRN starter boxes, so they ditched it onto Forgeworld and let the niche-market spergers interested in it spend $60 for a squad of 6mm plastic men.

We ain't never goin' back to the days of Adeptus Titanicus, that company died in the lead-soaked hands of Bryan Ansell's ambition.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll check out Chaos Rising sometime.

I think that in reality, vast majority of Wh40kfags aren't realfags. They aren't interested in wargaming.

Well, Eutechnyx does shitty racing games, so maybe you'll be defending a planet against invasion by Mortal Kombat-esque racing tournament?
