A changelog for the 2.0 patch for Crusader Kings II has been released. It is...significant.

MAJOR
- Ironman mode
- Steam Achievements
- Steam Workshop support
- Religious (non-heretic) rebels
- Support for the metaserver dropped
- Women can now die in childbirth, and there can be other complications, like illness and sickly infants

Far, far too much to list here, so go check it out.

Seems like it's worth a replay.
I tried Viking in Iceland start last night.
That raiding with speedboat to overcome the terrible income was boring as fuck.

GAMEPLAY
- Waived the creation conditions (culture, religion) for most kingdoms and empires for human players
Finally.

- Women can now die in childbirth, and there can be other complications, like illness and sickly infants
FREE DIVORCES - YES!

- A Holding owner's personal martial skill now affects the levy size
Finally. I will try 100 Martial Lunatic Possessed Viking start.

Buncha military change that seems questionable.
- Armies on ships are capped at 50% morale - I don't get this change. Armies already don't reinforce in boats, if you cap them at 50% morale it makes all coastal battle by ship attackers nigh impossible barring extremely outnumbering the land defenders. You already receive a steep penalty, and to start with 50% morale at battle is ridiculous.
- Levy maintenance costs increased by 50% - ....I don't think this is going to hurt more except the smaller kingdoms.
- Mercenary maintenance increased by 20% - Again, mercs are tools for smaller kingdoms to utilize. I'm kinda worried it might make it very inaccessible.
- Increased the cost of reinforcing retinues by 20% - Not gonna hurt much.

About 8 meters beneath sea level.
Already saw it. Incline but knowing Pdox I'll have to fiddle with all the statistical chances and whatnot to make it to my liking. What's more is that there is no mention of buildings that can fall to ruin through war, natural disaster or bankrupcy. Plus I get the distinct impression that once again the amount of objectives, decisions and plots have not been expanded with the wealth of great ones the modding community already have provided.

All in all, I'll prolly do another Memento Mori sometime after its release.

I think that's the whole point.

Not really, I mean, how does that even make sense for a fully trained army to suddenly lose 50% morale the moment they board a fleet?
I rather have slow morale degeneration if they stayed in boat for too long, making Morale recovery impossible for fleet-employing troops.
At the moment if you have 1 to 1 odds, amphibious assault is impossible due to the steep penalties inflicted to the attacker.
With this patch, 2 to 1 odds is not even feasible with the 50% morale cap.

I've always thought the naval landing penalty sort of stupid as a medieval army's disembarkment turning into some sort of Omaha Beach storming is quite ridiculous. I can stomach it for gameplay reasons though.

How often did people invade one another right off the boats during that era? And I don't mean raiding, I mean full-blown amphibious assaults. I think it's a good change because you shouldn't be able to army-dump your forces like it's 1944. Some of those other changes totally hurt the smaller factions, though.

Not sure if they patched it in, but man, i'm getting 600 gold in total in less than 2 years from the pope so far after my Norse of Iceland converted to Catholic and started assaulting the rest of the Norse in Ireland to establish a kingdom.
Good to see Rome actually helping out in wars. Now I'm flush with cash and can start looking forward to take on Norse Scotland while West Francia tries to prevent a Norse England from ever forming.
