Company News Stardock acquires one franchise from Atari auction

Stardock has decided to tease the fact that they acquired one of Atari's auctioned franchises.

We went there to get two items in particular. One in particular we really really wanted because we are insane fans of the series. That one we got. The other we wanted we didn’t get, we were the second highest bidder.

Speculation is that they acquired Masters of Orion or perhaps Total Annihilation.

Please keep in mind that Toys for Bob still retains ownership of the original content such as the aliens, characters, and ships. Stardock would still need their permission to use the Ur-Quan, for example. The direction they want to take with Star Control is up to them

So its going to be called Star Control but not actually be Star Control. Brilliant.

I long for the old days when the worst thing we could bitch about was SC3 not being a worthy sequel. Now it's time for franchise rape on a completely different level. If you thought adding the Herpaderpic Crux was bad, wait till you see what a bunch of OS modders comes up with.
