Total War: Rome 2 has been confirmed to be released on September 3rd, both physically and digitally.

All pre-orders get the Greek State DLC pack that comes with three factions: Epirus, Sparta, and Athens.

We were all expecting a Sparta dlc, but a three pack Greek state one is less stupid, even though I guarantee their only differences will be an upgraded unit type.

You fucking hate CA for inclining shogun 2 ten folds with respect to shogun 1? That's an interesting reason to hate...

No, i hate them for fucking up vanilla Shogun 2 with FotS and the mandatory patch it introduced. The graphics were significantly downgraded. Let's see, they fucked up the lighting, removed HDR, downgraded the shaders, fucked up LoD, fucked up contrast (the lighting on units is way darker, their colors are oversaturated), they even removed wet surface effects for a good amount of time... They aslo brought a whole new bunch of glitches, bugs and other crap.

But that's what CA does lately.

They left Empire in unplayable state. The game was garbage from the start, but their last patch introduced an AI bug that causes the game to run at 2fps during sieges. It's gamebreaking unless you auto resolve all sieges.

They make a game, then break it and release another. Rinse and repeat.

Empire: Total War

Does anyone have a link to the hilarious Empire: Total War comic that reads "should we wait for bill? Absolutely"

I never ever purchase a TW game day 1. Always wait at least 6 months for PC hardware to catch up with Total War's high minimum specs.

Fixed

Adding powder muskets to Total War was undeniably a bad idea. Next they will make one set in modern times and you will move only 6 commandos around a battlefield instead of an army. "BUT THATS HOW WE FIGHT NOW! SO REAL!"

When outraged mob asked CA "What the fuck is wrong with AI!in Empire?" they said, literally, that the guy, responsible for AI developement SUDDENLY left the company and the state of AI is his fault. Hilarity ensured. Then diplomacy bug, that was unfixed for 6 months and Shogun 2 overpowered monks, then overpowered retainers from DLC, then overpowered gunpowder units, then another legion of shit they fucked up fixing.

Now, they say that for the first time they hire several AI specialists and will change the AI principles completely for the first time in Total War franchize history. At least they start to realize that there were problem.

Empire was their biggest low as a company. Shit release, bad patching, lies to community and so on and on. That and then releasing the expansion for that one as a standalone. Meaning that all the improvements that went into Napoleon never made it into Empire.

After that Shogun 2 came as a surprising bit of incline. Cautiously optimistic about Rome II. I do like what they've revealed so far.

Shogun 2 saw its share of fail after first DLCs showed their ugly heads and balance turned into shit when peasant rabble with DLC retainer beat the crap out of uber-elite and uber-costly warrior monks with vanilla retainers.

Even Naginata Attendants can be kinda lopsided if you use them correctly (which was about the only worthwhile thing I got out of Rise of the Samurai). They've unit size is extremely small and their morale is shit, but they'll stop a cavalry charge dead in their tracks if you deploy them correctly, serve as a decent bullet/arrow sponge, and are cheap as chips.

I have already bought enough Total War games to last me a lifetime, and I always end up abandoning them and going back to the Crusader Kings series, so I will probably skip this one, at least initially.
