<a href=http://www.gamecloud.com/>Gamecloud</a>'s folks also had a <a href=http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=38>word</a> with Piotr Panasewicz from the Witcher team.<blockquote>Gamecloud - First, The Witcher was first announced at E3 2004. How has the progress on the game come along since then?
<br>
<br>
Piotr Panasewicz - We have made great progress with the game! First of all, having shown the game at E3, we finally started believing in ourselves. And although The Witcher is our first project, we are certain that we’re able to create a truly magnificent RPG game. The faith we gained allowed us to persuade the CD Projekt management to highly increase the game’s budget. This, in consequence, led us to devoting more time to details and, what’s more important, hiring a group of additional specialists. Not a year ago, during E3, CD Projekt Red consisted of 15 people, now it comprises a group of 42, and that is quite a number, isn’t it? What is more, we have managed to recruit the best and most experienced of the best. Just to give you an example, our management team was joined by Bartosz Gulik, a former Microsoft specialist, who supervised such productions as Dungeon Siege. Apart from possessing immense knowledge of electronic entertainment, Bartosz will assure that the game is adjusted and suited for the US market, on which CD Projekt has considerably little experience.</blockquote>Oh boy! A guy from Dungeon Siege! Bah, where'd those booth babes go...

In the old days people made the games they wanted to play.

Since its "adjusted" for the US market then its not for the european market, I was caring much for that NwN hellspawn to start with and after reading this ...

Whii. Don't care what the devs talk about, they can't speak english for the start. They think that speaking about "rpg redefined" or some "step forward" is good. Well, it is for gamespot and shit etc. but you shouldn't take everything they say seriously. They are scared as hell. So they are saying this stupid things. The game will be good or it will be the last game they made. Either way YOU win.
Cheers you fucktards.

PS.Stop assuming STOP. Read between the lines STOP.

PS2. Fuck i'm drunk.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Russian village was left baffled Thursday after its lake disappeared overnight.

NTV television showed pictures of a giant muddy hole bathed in summer sun, while fishermen from the village of Bolotnikovo looked on disconsolately.

"It is very dangerous. If a person had been in this disaster, he would have had almost no chance of survival. The trees flew downwards, under the ground," said Dmitry Zaitsev, a local Emergencies Ministry official interviewed by the channel.

Officials in Nizhegorodskaya region, on the Volga river east of Moscow, said water in the lake might have been sucked down into an underground water-course or cave system, but some villagers had more sinister explanations.

"I am thinking, well, America has finally got to us," said one old woman, as she sat on the ground outside her house.

Hi all!

almondblight -> how do you know that? Have you played the game? Nope. Have you seen it? Don’t think so...

Drakron -> We just wanted to say that we need to know our main markets and know how to sell our game there – we didn’t want to say that we’re going to change the game concept for US market needs! Our vision of the game it’s a core, which is not negotiable;) (and we’re clearly communicating it to the potential publishers) ...There are still lots of people making games which they like to play (as we do), of course, nowadays there is more games developed on demand, but overall it is not that bad, I think...

Tarkin -> PS. We’re not scared. Two reasons: 1. we’re sure that we’ll make a good game (sooner or later;) 2. we’ll do next projects no matter what kind of commercial impact will The Witcher have. This is due to the fact that we’re a part of bigger company and moving into development is kind of decision which will not be changed so easily:) Of course, it doesn’t mean that we’re not emotionally involved, we are, as hell...

Cheers,

Glad to hear from you Mike. I've been wondering what was happening on the publishing front of The Witcher. I'd like to see it released internationally and would be quite sad if the release was limited to Europe like the Gothic series initially was.

The Witcher will be definitely published in US... On publishing side everything is going in good direction and good companies are interested in the game. We are more than 12 years in publishing business (oh gosh,12 years..) and we’ve learnt quite a lot. So I hope that we’ll be able to avoid such a mistakes.

So you mean to say that even with your 12 years of publishing experience, you still think that this RPG is a step forward and a boon to the genre?

While it is fantasy, the books deal with interesting political system and very well fleshed out world which is more grim and mature then D&D for example. If devs manage to bring this over from books, it will be interesting game.

Except he's human, white, weilds his sword two handed, has another large sword in the sheath on the back, is more muscular more than likely, is a Witcher, isn't in a D&D world, and so on.

Seriosuly, the only thing they have in common other than the fact they are adventurers in fantasy is that they both have white hair... :?

I couldn't care less about whether the game is a 'step forward' (fuck innovation. Black & White proved how useless innovation can be) or if it's just a 'same old boring fantasy crawler'. If anything I hope it's a GOOD fantasy crawler, assuming it is one based on that screenshot, and not a totally shit one like Dungeon Lords. It's been a long time since we've had a good crawler, period.

So...what would you need to see in a single screen capture to convince you it's not a "boring fantasy crawler"?

Heh it's like seeing the cover for Dune with the windtraps on it and saying that it's a book about alternative power sources.
