Gaming Nexus caught up with CDProjekt's Adam Bandowski on the upcoming Xbox version and the Enhanced Edition for The Witcher 2.
Will this new Enhanced Edition be as Enhanced as the old Enhanced Edition was for The Witcher 1? Snippet:

So you’re adapting the game to the console, could you tell us what the difference between adapting a game and “porting” is?
We’ve rewritten the game code so it feels native to the console. We’ve rebuilt large parts of the game so we can achieve the same fidelity of gameplay that we have in the PC version. You’ll be amazed by how much we squeezed out of the Xbox 360. We dare say The Witcher 2 is one of the best looking games ever to be released on this platform. On seeing the X360 version for the first time, many people were amazed that it looks almost as good as it does on the PC. Also we re-adapted the controls for the Xbox gamepad, that is to say, the PC version supported gamepad controls, but now they’re close to being perfect. Also, the spectacular combat in The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition really flows on the Xbox 360. You feel like a real sword master as you slash through ranks of foes and roll through pools of monster blood.

Slash, slash, roll. Only the best survive the transformation process.

But all joking aside. We announced in November that we will publish two AAA+ multi-platform titles in 2014 and 2015.
Crap, it's only been two months since we hit 2012.

Well at least both of those games will be:

Both of these will be non-linear, story-driven RPGs. But that’s about all I can say at this point. We’re likely to announce some details soon.

I just hope the Enhanced Edition PC patch won’t include all of the changes from console version.
For example the footage from the console version that was released so far, revealed additional doors were placed in spots where in the PC version there were no doors. Also more cut scenes were added. Note that the doors and cut scenes act like hidden loading screens in the game engine. Apart from that few areas have been divided into smaller sections, thus limiting the scale of enemy encounters.
It all sound good and proper for the consoles. These limitations are necessary to compensate the hardware limitations of PS3. But in comparison to the PC version the gameplay (or what was so far presented) seems very discontinuous. Fight, fight, door. Fight, door, cut scene, talk.
If applied to the PC version it might brake the flow of the game and endanger the immersion. As an action game TW2 might suffer greatly from this changes.

But in our development plans our next large titles will be released at the same time for at least two platforms.

I’ve got no problem with that as long as it means that the PC version will be properly optimized and the game flow won’t be as “hacked” as in the console version. But it would be awesome if they decided to also release a small scale PC centric “classical” RPG as well.

I like how he has the balls to say it looks almost as good as on the PC (as opposed to just as good/better). Most devs don't have the balls to say that - they are delusional and think that revealing any minor flaw of their product will cost them dearly. Once again potatoland proves it's superiority over the Kwa:salute:
