<a href="http://www.gamespot.com/pc">Gamespot PC</a>'s <a href=http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/kotor2/review.html>review</a> of Obsidian's PC version of Knights of the Old Republic 2 has been posted and the site has not found KOTOR2 wanting, grading it <b>8.5/10</b>.<blockquote>Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic wasn't just the best role-playing game of 2003. It was one of the best things to happen to Star Wars in years. Knights of the Old Republic impressively succeeded on several counts: <u>It delivered a memorable and open-ended story featuring lots of excellent voice acting, an entertaining strategic combat system, and a lengthy, highly replayable quest.</u> Now all those good traits--as well as the game's few shortcomings--are back once again in Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. The sequel is clearly aimed at fans of the original, since it's a very similar game whose storyline picks up not long after the first one left off. Given that The Sith Lords arrives only about a year after its predecessor, it's remarkable that the game's quest is every bit as big and complex as the original's. On the other hand, some unsightly technical issues and a general feeling of déjà vu will probably prevent you from feeling as strongly about The Sith Lords as you did or still do about the first game. Nevertheless, it's hard to fault The Sith Lords for following in the footsteps of the original so faithfully.</blockquote>(Emphasis mine) Yup, and it also apparently featured either generous kickbacks for reviewers or hallucinogenic drugs.

that review looks almost (if not entirely) word for word like their xbox review of kotor2.

did they just copy and paste their xbox review and change a few words around to include the word "pc" in it?

It wouldn't be the first time it was done.

oh no! there are two "new" sentences:
"The game also sporadically crashed to the desktop in transition between areas, and our computer-controlled companions were prone to some bone-headed tactics when left to their own devices. And it doesn't really look any better than the original, but since it tries to get away with a few new graphical effects, its frame rate is prone to taking nosedives on all but the fastest systems. "

What a great review!

I've been fairly disappointed by the review as well. And given that the review was done by none other than Kasavin, I expected a bit better overview just for the PC version specifically. Seems like reviews have gone catering to multi-platform and the bottom line dictated by the common denominator naturally following the way other titles have been going lately.

The first KOTOR had some issues with ATI graphics as well. Seems like the same incompatibility issue. And ATI OPENGL support always have lagged.
