It'll be so enormous, it's bound to have at the very least 8 hours of content. How do I know? Because this guy from The GamersHub spent 1 hour with the game at PAX and saw like 1/8 of it. More or less.

I didn’t get to see a chance of the famous Vegas Strip, but I did get a chance to run around the eerily accurate Mojave Desert. The one thing I will point out is that the world is enormous I probably was able to only see about an eighth of the world and I spent a good hour playing the game. My exploitations led me to a few firefights and here I used the games new crosshair shooting mode. The new viewing mode was needless to say not helpful, for me at least. Unless you’re using a sniper rifle the rifles do not do enough damage for the crosshairs to aid you at all times. I started using the cowboy repeater and using the new updated VATS system. There is not much new to the actual system so why they call it new is weird to me. The animations for the VATS are still as gory as ever so no need to worry about that.

Also, he had fun:

Some of the most fun I have ever had within a Fallout game happened at the Primm Casino. How often do you get to a high point in Fallout 3 and rain down grenades onto an evil bunch of dudes? Not often unless you count going to the top of the Washington Monument and just throwing stuff off of there, but that’s probably not a good idea still.

I wonder how many Fallout games he's actually played. Probably just the only true Fallout game - Fallout 3. Let's hope Obsidian will be able to prove themselves worthy of Bethesda's legacy.

:M
Running around shutan stuff for an hour and exploring about an 8th of the game isn't the same as 8 hours of content.
And considering that I "only" explored about 30% of the map in FO3 before I was bored to tears and decided to just finish the main quest. Which then took only 2 more hours and killed at least a billion brain cells and my faith in humanity. Without a FO fast-travel-system less walking around and more interesting content would be an improvement. Seems like they'll at least have the "less walking around" part.

i don't like the idea that he exploited the world so freely. is it not enough to kill the bad guys?

The way they describe RPG games these days you'd think they're talking about shooters. You know, shooters like like ME2, which is bad imitation of GoW, because you basically get a shittier combat system, three and a half useless skills and some boring dialogue.

I hope that includes "stop shooting when enemy moves behind a wall", but it's unlikely a game journalist would notice anything new that isn't flashing onscreen.

Fixed.

=/=

I finished an eighth of the game in one hour.

VoD these days is sounding more and more like one of those ridiculous Fox or News of the World headlines with sensationist claims and a misrepresentation of what has been stated in the story.

Really? What did I misrepresent?

He said the game is enormous, he played for an hour and saw 1/8 of the world.
I said that he said the game was enormous and furthermore I said the game will have at the very least 8 hours of content. Which is a safe assumption given he needed an hour to uncover 1/8 of the gameworld. Hope you understand now.

Well it was a bit of a Foxian comment, stating the obvious dressed up in sarcasm : hurr durr it will have at least 8 hours of content cause he saw 1/8th in an hour, as if that's not a given. I mean if he played for 20 minutes then you'd state the obvious that there's at least 20 minutes of content?

It's like trying to be all 'hip' with the snide anti-Bethesda jabs everywhere. Yes, we know, Beth sucks balls...tell us something new already.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings, it's Obsidian btw, not Bethesda.

As for is it a turd? Well, we'll have to wait and see. Let us judge the level of turdification once we had the chance to play it, not earlier.
