There's a preview of The Witcher over at HomeLAN Fed, which briefly covers what JCal saw of the game at E3. Here's a clip:

Witcher is trying something different in the action-RPG genre for its combat. While it occurs in real time you can pause the action to set up both offensive and defensive combos against your enemies. You also earn more experience if you accomplish these combo effectively. The combos are all mouse driven so there is no need to use keyboard short cuts to accomplish them.

So, action with pause, combos where results have a relationship with experience, and no hot keys. Gotcha.

The screenshot does look pretty good, considering it's supposedly based on the aurora engine - or a new tweaked version of it, as one of the devs said.

No kidding. If those screenies are representative, the game will look years ahead of NWN.

The combat sounds like a console-style action game, though.

I thought the trailer was pretty stylish. Nice dark art and moody music.

Ausir has a newsbit a few items up from this. :) It's 100% hack and slash from what I can see but it looks attractive considering its roots.

The url for the trailer is not working anymore... Maybe they got too many connections with that file.
