There's a dev diary on the character creation aspect of Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines over at GameSpot. Here's a bit on the gender stuff:

At this point, players are also given the choice of gender and the choice of a history. The choice of gender, while mostly for aesthetics, can still have an effect on gameplay, especially in terms of seduction. The choice of history, on the other hand, can have a large impact on the game, as it basically gives players a bonus effect in certain areas and a negative effect in others. For instance, if players choose "All Star Athlete" as their history, they'll get a bonus to their athletics talent, but they'll never be able to raise their intelligence higher than 4 (the max is 5).

But Leon, if there's no gay vampire seduction, what will the Anne Rice fans do?

maybe the whole male/female lines you get are all controlled by a little line in the config file like "female = 1" or something. Then you could just go in there, change that even though you have a male vamp, and boom, get your gay on. ;-)

Well, keep in mind, if there's no kids in the game, you can't go full Anne Rice gay, because her vampires like little boys.

The textures look far from finished. Just look how sharp the edges are on that building. Oh and hot linking other sites out of their bandwidth is bad mmkay?
