Mothership Zeta is out. Roll that press release!
A strange Alien signal is being broadcast throughout the Capital Wasteland, originating from a crashed UFO. Is it a distress call, or something far more sinister? That question is answered when you find yourself beamed aboard an enormous Alien spacecraft, with only one alternative – to fight your way to the bridge of the ship and secure your escape. Mothership Zeta takes Fallout 3 in an entirely new direction – outer space. Meet new characters and join with them in a desperate bid to escape the Aliens’ clutches. To do so, you’ll wield powerful new weapons, like the Alien Atomizer, Alien Disintegrator and Drone Cannon, and deck yourself out in brand new outfits, like the Gemini-Era Spacesuit and even Samurai Armor.
Oh...and in case you thought it wouldn't be totally stupid...it likely is. Check out this video found by Per of NMA. In it, Alien weapons are no match for the bamboo armor of the mighty samurai. Also of note, Samurai Armor has almost the same damage resistance as Combat Armor, because bamboo and advanced polymers are totally alike, and that it magically makes you deal more damage with melee weapons, in addition to boosting Melee skill. Nice one Bethesda.

What utter bullshit ancient samurai armor strong enough to endure blaster hits to the helmet, maybe theres a missing section about how the original armor was destroyed/replaced and what he has is an alien replica thats blaster tough

@the trailer: I like it how he has to hit the samurai dude like three times before he even notices wtf.

Nothing more to write. My rage-meter seems to have had an integer overflow and is back to mildly disinterested.

Thing is, the idea of the samurai armour having equivalent damage resistance to combat armour COULD have been the source of an excellent piece of irony/ lore. I'm thinking an explanation that the alien's high-tech weapons aren't projectile-based, but fire a type of energy or a frequency of radiation that not only passes through combat armour, but actually heats up the metal and high-tech fibres to magnify the damage. Whereas it gets blocked / semi-neutred by ordinary wood. Nothing new about having a 'low-tech ironically works better than high-tech when fighting the uber-advanced-bad-guys' - heck even Predator did it - but would still be a nice touch.

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll even get an explanation at all.

Maybe that's the secret to liking Oblivion / FO3 - become so enraged that the bottom of your rage-meter collapses and you end up liking it. No wonder those ESF guys are so into Oblivion / FO3 - they must have been raging since Morrowind failed to improve on Daggerfall!

Hey good job Beth by putting in samurai. Crap job though by making thier armor equal to high tech armor.

They should have gone a different route and given samurai Ki Skills, and martial arts skills. (auto trip foe for example, quickdraw technique where they make multiple very fast katana attacks, etc)

They should also have tossed in ninja.

Your fascination with samurai and ninja and shit looks pretty pathetic by now, Adraira. Maybe if you could stop mention it in every thread, things would lighten up a bit

I think that the samurai is so hard to kill 'cause he's an "important character". You have tried to blow up a merchant's head with a pistol? There's a video in youtube that a guy shoots like 30 TIMES and the motherfucker still lives. Fucking plot Shitblivion plot armor...

Also, now oblivion 2 has samurais, aliens, vampires, cults... What more? Ninjas, cherookes, cadillacs and dinousaurs?

Is maybe Pete Hines a Rifts fan?

That boss general at the end of Point Achorage also didn't go down even after five gauss cannon shots at head although he didn't have any more armour than a leather suit with no helm. Cool.

"The plants of dark soul have infested my garden again." (c)

The question is WHY THE FUCK DID THEY (BETHESDA) BUY THE FALLOUT TRADEMARK?

I mean they've already created their own fucking ip, which has nothing to do with the original game. So it doesn't make any sense to buy the licence and then to rip it completely off.

It also has knights, orcs and tree ents, don't forget about that. And giant walking robots.

Gameplay wise the overall experience is great as it is more of a first person shooter this time rather than a quest driven role playing action game.
