<br>
<blockquote>Bethesda has surprised one and all this afternoon with the shock announcement of a brand new Fallout title for PC and next-consoles next year.
<br>
<br>
Dubbed Fallout: New Vegas, the game is not a sequel to last year’s massively popular Fallout 3, and will instead be a standalone title 'set in the Fallout universe'.
<br>
<br>
It will, however, be based on the Fallout 3 engine, and no doubt be very familiar to those accustomed to the recent post-nuclear outing.
<br>
<br>
Most interestingly the title is not being developed by Bethesda, and is instead being handled by Obsidian, the studio behind the likes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Never Winter Nights 2 and Sega’s Alpha Protocol.</blockquote>

Edit: This was actually announced here <a href="http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6839">4 years ago</a>.

WOW! I didn't see that coming

Can't say I'm a huge fan of Obsidian but this will be very interesting to see.

Also, "New Vegas"? Wasn't Vegas destroyed, that's why they all moved to Reno?

Replace Vault Boy's head with the Obsidian logo.
Brace yourselves for Obsidian's vision of Bethesda's pathetic excuse for a vision of the Fallout franchise.

Not content to just rape the corpse, Bethesda proceeds to burn and defecate on the shattered remains.

Well, at least one good thing came from the whole raping of Fallout: that lovely gif.

Wait. What?

Surely this is as good as it gets for Fallout in today's industry, given Troika's gone. Wow.

Glad to see that Obsidian's not dead yet. Still bummed out on the aliens rpg and almost certain that this fallout game will be very good. A development cycle of a year is too short to make this anything but an easy cash-cow for both companies.

Your ignore list.
Since Obsidian is making this one, it will undoubtedly have a good storyline and very interesting, intricate plot. Whoever, it will also feature only 70% of the game by the time it is released, and the rest will be modded by the community in a few years. Of course, they will also butcher an already fucked up engine, requiring three times the computing power that current fallout 3 does.

Also:

<s>Bethesda</s> Lucasarts has surprised one and all this afternoon with the shock announcement of a brand new <s>Fallout</s> KotOR title for PC and next-consoles next year.
next year
next year
next year

So, Obsidian once again biting more than they can chew, producing a sequel with a very tight deadline.

<s>Lucasarts, no wait, ATARI, wait.. SEGA..no no... oh yeah,</s> Bethesda!! RUSHED OBSIDIAN INTO RELEASIN TIHS GAEM BEFOR TEH SCHEDUEL !!

From Bioware's garbage dump, to Beth's garbage dump.
