Pete "I love RPG Codex" Hines spoke with Gamasutra about Bethesda's long-term sales strategy and he said something that caught my attention:

We're getting ready to do something else with Oblivion this year, because it is still selling and retailers still like it. If we weren't talking about that game, they'd only be focused on the [newer] things. But we stay on top it. I think that owes to our sales guys who stay on top of it and don't want to let it just die.

It's not, "Oh, it's two years old, it's not going to sell any more." That's not true. It will. If you pay attention to it and keep taking care of it, it's still got a home, it can still do something.

When you say you're thinking about doing something with Oblivion, what does that mean?

PH: Oh, I'll let you know. [laughter]

I hope this is because they don't have shit to work further on (engine, staff) and will be going under soon.
But that's just wishful thinking.

Oh for christ's sake, who fucking cares about this shit?
They've destroyed my favorite game franchise, and we're covering their oblivion shit?
Are you fucking kidding me?
What kind of half assed rpg website has this become?

*Mighty Mouse voice* Here he comes to wreck your day! Mighty Hines is on his waayhaaayhaay!

He's probably going to look at what the modding community has done/is brewing up and copy it... anything original is out of his league.

I've come to appreciate Oblivion more after mods. Don't get me wrong, I think what Bethesda released was quite bad. But after mods to fix the interface, pop-ups and level scaling, it's actually quite a fun game to play with. No mod can fix the linear quests though.

Your ignore list.
They will make something similar to Galactica's ending.

The new Oblolivion content will consist on several digging sites and strange sealed caverns made out of metal, scattered all over Cyrodil with remains of an advanced ancient civilization, which used very advanced weaponry and strange bracelet devices. Through many journals and ancient writings, the people from Cyrodil will discover that, in fact, all races have a common human origin, and that what distinguishes one another is mutations that occurred approximately 2000 years ago, which gave humans several psychic powers and caused many isolated groups of people to develop similar characteristics, which are in fact mutations caused by something called radiation.

*Toddler Mode: ON*
This will be a remarkable achievement for the gaming industry. The two greatest gaming universes will merge in an unexpected turn of events, which will tie the both universes together, spawning a whole new array of possibilities. IT WILL BE AWESOME! People will be able to go into a room and spam FIREBALL FIREBALL FIREBALL and see it from all crazy angles!
*Toddler Mode: OFF*

Damn it all. A half of a step forward and then rushing right back to the gate... Way to go Bethesda. It's one thing to go back to the well, it's another to go back to one that everyone tells you is poisoned.
