Wesp continues to release updates for his patch. Version 6.0 is out, with a bunch of new additions, probably the largest being that his patch no longer requires the official 1.2 patch, added in because the official Vampire: Bloodlines site was closed down by Activision.

Do any of these patches make the game run any better? I'd like to try the game again with them, but I wonder if it'll be a different enough experience to be worth it.

Yes, they make the game quite a bit better, for the most part.

Well you see - moddies just have to add something from them that never were intended to be there.
You can use the basic version.

I myself never understood this practice of second-guessing developer's intentions.

That's why it's in the Plus Patch and it's clearly stated that it contains balance changes that make sense but were not in the original game. If you do not like these changes, use the Basic Patch that stays as close as possible to original game.

Just for the record: you get to choose between basic patch and plus patch during installation of this. I often see people confused, thinking they are two separate things. However, despite the distinction, basic patch still has some "logic" changes whereas plus patch is more concerned about "restoring" missing content.

Has anyone actually given a try to Tessera The Drama Queen's "TRUE" patch? I really wonder how it fares in comparison.

Tessera's patch just fixes bugs, but I don't think it's as comprehensive as Wesps - he adds in a bunch of missing dialog, facial expressions, animations, textures, etc. But then you have Wesp making gameplay changes even in the basic patch, which kind of sucks.

I've played with Tessera's patch as Malk.
It's ok I guess. I didn't notice that anything was broken (or added) at least.
