<a href="http://www.gamespot.com/pc">Gamespot PC</a> has roped <b>Jason Anderson</b> into writing a <a href=http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/vtmb/preview_6083943.html>developer diary</a> on <a href=http://www.troika.com>Troika</a>'s upcoming World of Darkness action CRPG, <a href=http://www.vampirebloodlines.com>Vampire: Bloodlines</a>. The diary talks about the transition from PnP game to Source-powered 3D game.

<blockquote>And so the brain-picking began, along with the reading of all of the second-edition source material. Then it was on to all of the revised editions. By the end of this, my team and I had a fairly solid understanding of the game itself. But even with all of this knowledge, and the firsthand experience some of our employees had playing the pen-and-paper game, we needed more information in order to pinpoint the exact element we were looking for. It was time to brave the Internet.

I searched out fan sites for Vampire all over the Internet. Let me just say this...I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. And though I may be scarred for the rest of my life, I found what I was looking for. Reading the fan sites, I found page after page of fans retelling their role-playing experiences. The main theme on most of these pages seemed to be character interaction.</blockquote>

The Internet will do that to people, yeah.

OH NO!!!

Troika is basing a game off the experience of the 12 angsty fans of V:TM!

Crap, I thought they were just going to take the basic premise and do something good with it.

j/k!

But seriously, this is one of those games that I seriously hope they get as little fan input as possible.

It depends which of the fans they talk to...but yeah. I understand the sentiment. I am pleased to see he's talking about interaction.

I'm not sure what he means by the term feat though. Actually I'm not sure at all. Not skills, since he covers those before, and not disciplines, since he covers those after. And the only thing thats really derived from anything is Willpower...

And you can tell its a computer game- blood cost = a discipline's effect level is going to have people snacking on passers-by every few seconds. Unless of course they upped the blood pool signifcantly. Or you'll be carrying blood potions (er, plasma bags) as a matter of course...

Hmmm, my anticpation level for this game just about dropped about 50%. No rushing out to buy a new computer that'll run this baby for me until i hear some positive reviews.

Well, you're going to have to wait until after it comes out to get reviews anyway. So there isn't much of a rush.
