Pezman has issued another patch update on the Atari forums about when the Temple of Elemental Evil patch will be ready. Here's the info:

The patch is with Atari QA, and at this time we are working with Tri-Media (KaZaa) on specifications for patching their version of the game.

We are targeting this Friday as a release provided everything progresses as planned.

I'll keep you posted as best as possible if there are any changes.

Told ya that KaZaa thing would create problems at patch time.

Agh, such idiocy on all fronts when it comes to this game being released.

It's not the point - the point is that if the patch changes the toee.exe, it would change the Kazaa version into a full version of the game.

Yup, it's a fun situation that they should have thought about before they did it - but didn't.

Now, picture this.. You have the KaZaa version and they only make a patch for CD version, you're screwed because you don't have a CD yet you still paid $50. WHOOPS!

Then there's the fun of having the CD check eliminated in the KaZaa version, but it has that whole timer gobble-dee-gook with the registration by pass stuff. Well, that wouldn't work with the CD version because the CD guys don't have that.

So, now, they have to make a patch that works with both the CD version *and* the KaZaa version in one fun little bundle! One that either checks for the CD and does the SecuROM fun if you have the CD or the registration thing if you did that, and works with both!

What could possibly go wrong?
