Good review. One quick question though - how much improved over the original is it? You can get SC1 dirt cheap now, whereas SC2 is still pretty pricey. Is it worth the extra money?

In your head, obviously
Well, I played the initial game. And still this one meant two full weeks of enjoyment for me at least. However, I do think that such a game should be priced around $10-$20, because even knowing how much fun it was, I wouldn't have bought it for that full price of $45... In fact, I only very rarely ever buy games at their full price, usually I wait until they drop to $20 or $10.

It is a pity that no serious market analysis exists which would analyse how many people would buy a game at 5, 10, 15, ... so that such prices would be made in a slightly different manner than the 'traditional forty bucks everyone charges'.

So, to return to your question: First buy the first game, play through it, wait three months and then get the second part to get the maximum enjoyment out of it all. :)
