* The Font of Renewal, where a player may purge himself of Vampirism
* The Shrine of Sithis where the infamous player may heal and be cured of disease
* A Dark Minion, who the player may employ to find gold in a most unseemly manner
* A Todd Howard, who will trick the player out of his gold in a most unseemly manner
* A 'cattle pen' for vampires to dine
* An indoor garden of venomous plants, including the notorious Chokeberry to feed to your enemy
* Various furnishing upgrades, including a study room and storage area

C'mon, admit it, you made one of those up didn't ya?

I'm guessing it's "The Font of Renewal, where a player may purge himself of Vampirism" because that'd just be silly...

Am I right?

A multilevel lair for murderous players to find refuge

Well atleast Bethesda knows their own audience. Murderous players...

The Font of Renewal, where a player may purge himself of Vampirism

Something tells me you could probable mod this into the game anyway...

The Shrine of Sithis where the infamous player may heal and be cured of disease

The Shrine of Shit-is where the player may cure their diarrhoea.

A Dark Minion, who the player may employ to find gold in a most unseemly manner

Now here "most unseemly manner" could actually be interesting, but I doubt it since were talking Bethesda.

A Todd Howard, who will trick the player out of his gold in a most unseemly manner

Imagine if Bethesda actually make's a mod that has Todd the Tard playing as a sales person that constantly tries to sell you a bag of shit he calls "Exspansions", and at the same time talks about the AWSOME blades of grass, instead of talking about the weather.

A 'cattle pen' for vampires to dine

Sounds more like a farm where your'e less dignified players will go to screw animals at the barn.

An indoor garden of venomous plants, including the notorious Chokeberry to feed to your enemy

Nothing the editor probably couldn't do.

Various furnishing upgrades, including a study room and storage area

Study? Did you just say STUDY?!? Bethesda's fanboys must be in an uproar now.

In my country the system operates YOU
I like that to get the good weapon costs like 3 bucks. Not even an attempt to disguise they are just selling necessary parts of the game as addons.

I guess oblivs is not that challenging, though, really.

Anybody still playing O? How many hours can a fanboy spend playing this crap?. I know, I know! Untill the next episode is released... Sad.
I've nearly finished this game (did all guilds, almost every quest i could find) - nearly because after a week of playing it's deadly boring. I didn't have the motivation to finish the last 5-6 quests. The best thing was you didn't have to read nothing thanks to quest compass :) Not something to be proud of... Better write what you think about mods like this: http://www.tessource.net/files/cache/5360.html (beware! not very safe thumbnails :)

We have been over this.

Oblivion is poorly balanced and what Bethsoft "official plugins" do is destroying what is left of the balance ... take vampirism for example, this plugin complety removes the bad aspects of vampirism so what is the offside of the vampirism bonus with this? NONE!

Its the worst sins of Morrowind plugins that Bethsoft is doing so far.

Balanced? Hmm. I first played as a pugilist/brawler and when i've reached lvl22 the game became impossible to play- single monster had to take nearly a hundred hits to fall. I had to quicksave several times when fighing single troll or ogre. (that's nothing compared to Dung Lords where you had to press ATTACK for about an 30-90minutes to kill some of the bosses)
I don't get it. Oblivion is something like MMORPG but without the MORPG element. Is it even Massive?
I'm wondering about their next game. Can you make a game more simple?

That was rhetorical....
Yes, Whack-a-mole with ubergfx.
Hmmm I'm wondering about all that "Guard Humiliation", "Hookers of Oblivion" mods.... Bethesda managed to invent the best way to sell interactive porn..

Missed the "poorly" that come before "balanced" did you?

I am just pointing out what already barely resembles balance mechanics is thrown away in each plug in that Bethsoft puts out.

I stopped playing it in the high teen-levels due to similar reasons.

My thief-like character just didn't cut it in combat, and a lot of quests seemed to require it at some time. Got too frustrating. I could handle Goblins and the like, but once Trolls started appearing I had problems.

Maybe I'm just too shit at twitch-combat stuff.
The again, maybe I should have rushed through the entire game at low levels...

Not that I think stuff like this is bad plugin material per se - the nice thing about plugins is they are optional, so it's up to you if you like what you get. However, this is all stuff that fan modders can do just as well, and maybe better. B. should focus on larger complex projects, that modders usually fail at (not always, but most of the time - the only truly ambitious team project I saw come through for MW was Wizards Islands).

As to playing O: I just finished the main quest yesterday, about 65 hours in the game. Very dissapointed in the main quest overall. Even several bugs: crashes in "paradise" and Martin not following in final battle.
I guess I will do the dark brotherhood, since everyone says its the best part of the game, and then I will call it quits. Might still try to do a little modding aftewards.

I'm really impressed by all you guys that mention how many hours you've put into Oblivion. Not only that but I get the breakdown of what quests/factions they've done. Thanks fellas, I'm tallying up all the figures and I'll let you know who's the biggest douchebag OK?

This is like if Maxis rounded up a bunch of cheat-mods for Sims 2 and released them as a download-only pay expansion.

"New! Baby Bottle that makes your infants go to adults in seconds! WOW!"

It's retarded, so thats why Bethesda does it I GUESS.

More lore raping by Bethesda:

From the add-on background:

"Within the Hollow, he constructed a Shrine to Sithis and prayed for absolution and a way to bring his quashed dreams back to reality. Many a mortal died at the hands of Greywyn in the following days, all in an attempt to appease his Dark Master. Finally, his prayers were answered, but Sithis demanded a price. Sithis would approve of the Crimson Scars, only if Greywyn would renounce his vampiric ways and become mortal once again as a punishment for the betrayal of his brothers. "

Sithis is not a God!
Sithis is 'the void' or Chaos.
Sithis is a state and is not going an answer prayers or make a deal......

I doubt you can since we do have some Oblivion apologists in here ... MSFD efforts seen to not been in vain.

I put some hours but could never get into the game, too boring and even knowing the "hive mind" idea of jRPGs ... I rather play FF X that Oblivion.

I'd buy that. Is it an unkillable character though?

THE HEROES OF THE RPG CODEX

THE HEROES OF THE RPG CODEX

It is my gratuitous obligation and proud privilege to thank all those HEROES, living and undead, for boldly sharing their personal OB experiences.

In the spirit of full frontal ... bandwidth ... appreciation, I thank all the brave guerilla journalists at RPG Codex, DAC and NMA for echoing the imagery of Beth's seedy side show of entertainment.

The skill and grace of your forums ferment was the best OB experience that I could ever hope to encounter.

Mod of ""Fredrick's Of Oblivion"" (link above). After seeing these new (nude) clothes for the OB emperors, I can still wait for OB to spiral down to ""my price"".
Perhaps Beth included nipples to satisfy some localization standards, [e.g. - the rumored fear of pubic hair in old Japanese Porn].
Perhaps 'Mattel' would have sought legal action if the -- dolls -- in OB were 'sans' teats, were too much like THE Barbie.

""Barbie's Bondage Adventure""

If I were to lust for computer action figures dressed like Vampirella,
I can rush to my local Micro Center and get a boxed copy of Death Trap Dungeon for 84 cents.
DTD: A classic ACTION game with r-PG elements!!!!!!
DTD: Third person view so the Nex Gen stampede might get distracted from their monster murder. Perhaps the Nex Gen purists will not allow third person 'tits and ass' or 'beef cake' to sully their body count.
If so, please disregard this entertainment suggestion.

Finally.

Those who have shared Oblivion .... we salute you!
