Nice to see the whole timer-bit was just a translation issue or something. Big ol' heterosexual pats-on-the-back to Slaughter for kickin' ass and takin' names at e3.

Yep, Slaughter did a bang up job. Rumor on the street is that he had to brutally fight his way through 3 layers of steroid-enhanced E3 security guards just to conduct the interview with Akella (he left his press pass at home). He then had to karate kick his way across the convention floor just to get out alive and post this blood-stained article. I hear it was epic.

That aside, I like this part:
Do you think there's a difference of how well turn-based games sell in different regions of the world? (e.g. turn-based games sell well in Russia)

Well, the Russian market is very similar to the European market. It's more reliant on PC than on consoles, and turn-based strategy games are an important part of it. We're pretty much sure it's a good thing to have several quality brands on the market - games like Disciples III, Heroes V and Civilization 4. Adult audiences play these games, and they sell very well - especially if they are well balanced. We're making this game for the adult audience that likes these games.
Make a game for an adult audience? And expect it to sell well? What a crazy idea!

I really hope that this game turns out well. Easily accessible, balanced and good-looking games do a wonderful job of getting new people to try turn-based strategy, and adding another title to the string of recent successes just might be enough convince certain publishers that TB and the ability to turn a profit aren't polar opposites. Who knows, it might eventually lead to completely insane ideas like turn-based RPGs.

Best of luck to them.

One of the posters at the SFI Disciples forum pointed out this gallery by Anry, one of the artists/developers from .dat. Some of the pictures are somewhat cheesy, but they're all well done. I especially like this one.

The pictures are kinda good on a technical level, I guess, but they're kinda wacky in terms of what he's drawing. Like the chick with the gun: Why is her top open? Why are her supple tits supported by only a tied t-shirt? Pressing questions that deserve answers!

This is pretty awesome, though.
