2K has announced Firaxis' Sid Meier's Civilization VI. Visually, it looks like another Facebook or console Civ, but apparently this is going to be a proper PC game.

Here's the feature list:

EXPANSIVE EMPIRES:
See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain.

ACTIVE RESEARCH:
Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.

DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY:
Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.

COMBINED ARMS:
Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.

ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER:
In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session.

A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS:
Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems introduce new players to the underlying concepts so they can easily get started.

You can read more about Civ VI on the game's DLC shopSteam page. There's also an interview with designer Ed Beach on RPS.

It'll be fine for $10. They took a few steps forward but multiple steps back with Civ V.

That sounds really boring. Multi-tile cities is the best they could come up with?

The main problem with Civ V is with the feedback loops. Get a decisive early or mid-game lead and you become quickly unstoppable. This leads to really boring games. It badly needs systems which make life harder for successful empires so games aren't just a furious scrabble for an advantage followed by coasting to victory (or inexorable defeat).

No, the main problem with Civ V is One Unit Per Tile. There are other problems but they pale in comparison.

Nah, that just makes wars stupider. The feedback loops ruin the entire game.

After Civilization : Beyond Shit, i'll never trust Firaxis to deliver good civ games ever again.

Meh, the last good Civ was Civ3. I shall watch with caution.

Haha, wtf am I reading. Civ 3 was barely playable after all the patches and then fucked over by 2 useless expansions. Not to mention insane AIs and ICS galore. Civ 4 BTS is mechanically the best, also see the bounty of great mods for it.

Endless legend is already better than Civ 6. What a debacle.

Living in the world where Civ 6 was made is the real nightmare.

WHEN WILL IT END?
