BioWare hancho Greg Zeschuk is interviewed on GameCloud about their recent mergery stuff with Pandemic Studios. Here's a bit of it:

Gamecloud - BioWare has been one of the most critically acclaimed and best selling independent game developers there is. Why did the company feel a merger with Pandemic and Elevation was a good idea?

Greg Zeschuk – The first reason is because Pandemic is one of the other best selling and commercially acclaimed developers around, and Ray and I had a strong sense of resonance with Josh and Andrew. Once we got to know Pandemic a little better it became quite clear to us that they would be tremendous partners to BioWare and we will be able to work together to help each other make even better games. The second reason is that this deal will allow BioWare/Pandemic to not only preserve, but also celebrate our independence. We will be able to continue to focus on creating games of the utmost creativity and impact because we will be able to maintain our entrepreneurial focus on being great developers and making games that please our fans.

When asked why the naked man rolled around on the cactus, he said, Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Is this some kind of new trend/loophole to not get bought out by a big publisher or something?

Anyway I thought a Bioware/Obsidian merge would have made more sense.

Yeah, right. Like there are *tons* of examples of this working with other merged partners. Show me a merger that wasn't just a more or less cunningly disguised takeover. Asset stripping will no doubt follow soon. Who'll 'drop the soap' first and end up the bitch in this relationship, I wonder?

BiowarePandemic...
doesn't have that special ring to it.

What would be the new corporate identity, as in maybe enacting a new name?

Panware?

Actually, that's a pretty funny name.

Why merge when you're already one and the same in all but name?
