Zero-K thoughts?

So an RTS by the name of Zero-K got recently released on steam and I gave it a go. It wasn't too bad.
It's a mix of "command and conquer" and "total annihilation" with teraforming and stuff.
It's mainly a multiplayer, but it has an offline campaign (can go online co-op though), but the campaign doesn't have any story sadly. It would probably have been a good idea to at least give some story write up thing after finishing a mission, oh well though.

Mechanics wise, it seems fine. It has many different buildings/units to pick from and specialise in (if you want to), you can do some terra-forming shinanigans, etc...

The campaign has this progression thing going for it, wherein you get exp for completing a mission and eventually level up. Once you level up you unlock two module slots for your commander (hero, he can build stuff too); but sadly this isn't transferable to PVP. So far I haven't seen any modules that affect units outside of your commander, but maybe there are some.

Anyway, anyone else tried it?

Kinda hard to take serious with such an amateurish look, when SupCom is still played, but damn the unit AI seemed sexy (stayed outside of firing ranges etc)

Ye, the AI isn't too bad, I noticed it doing some neat maneuvers occasionally. Though it has a bit of a problem, in skirmishes, it likes to hide its units, so you'll have to scan the entire map to find them cause the AI sure ain't gonna give up.

Yeah... lost me at "mainly multiplayer"...
Well, it has an offline campaign that looks pretty long.

Make the Codex Great Again!
Fun fact: Zero-K is built on the Spring engine, which was originally meant as a port for Total Annihilation.

I haven't tried Spring in a while, but remember having lots of fun with co-op (3 players vs 8 AI) back in the day (I think the game we played was Balanced Annihilation). That was over 10 years ago tho.
