Well he pops in once in a blue moon, but no, not really. Of all the site's founders, only DarkUnderlord has remained in his position. He was younger than the others, I think.

The forums are full of people sucking off Final Fantasy X, favorably comparing BG to things other than dysentery, and looking forward to Bethesda's next masterpiece. There is nothing pooper, nicolai, or a Vogon Constructor Fleet could do to further harm the codex.

Pleeeeease dad

Vault Dweller was the Codex's editor-in-chief and set the tone for the site for many years. He was the most active administrator, basically running the site while most of the others had a more hands-off approach.

He wanted the site to be more "respectable", and he went too far one day by trying to sanitize GD. This happened: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/edict-from-the-management™.21366/page-10#post-1534879

And that's it, in a nutshell. If you want more details you'll have to dig around in the archives.

FFS what a microcosm sect, you could write a doctorate with that investment in research

To re-cap:
  1. Spacemoose posts his remark.
  2. VD threatens ban (2nd Warning).
  3. Spacemoose pushes ban by posting cartoon poopy pictures (Sadly, edited out long-ago).
  4. VD bans Spacemoose.
  5. "Free Spacemoose" threads begin to appear.
  6. Naked Lunch (Admin of the forums from when he was on staff for TCancer), gives Admin powers to Nicolai and POOPERSCOOPER in revenge of Spacemoose.
  7. N and P run havoc with the word filter, removing moderators, banning people and tagging everyone they can get their hands on.
  8. DU comes on, re-acquires admin powers via the back-door, starts cleaning up and gives everyone powers back, including VD.
  9. VD e-mails Calis expressing opinions to clean the place up.
  10. Calis demotes VD. For a final clean-up, he also rolls back the database.
  11. Shit-fight ensues which spawns something like 20 threads with over 10 pages each.
  12. DU vs VD: Battle of the Overminds.
  13. VD remains off staff and establishes Iron Tower Studio Forums.
  14. The Codex continues on its merry slide down the toilet.

Sounds like the template for a revolution.
