Same rules as before, this time for 2005.

Notes:

Silent Storm: Sentinels was released in 2004 but was missed in the 2004 poll, so has been put here.

There's a few jRPGs here which all claim to be PC games by design rather than some kind of later port from other devices and it's very difficult to fully verify this from my perspective of complete ignorance. If a specialist jRPGer could verify these games that'd be great.

2005 sees the surge of Russian games of dubious RPG content increase again from their emergence in 2004, mostly due to the success of Silent Storm which was kinda like their Fallout in terms of inspiration, and these games represent the bulk of this list's padding.

Dawn of Magic was released in 2007 but is a beefed up version of the Russian game Blood Magic released in 2005, Dawn of Magic being it's western title.

Feel free to name any titles I might have missed or titles that are not PC designed games released in 2005 that have crept onto the list.

Dragonshard is more of a Battle Realms clone with (very) light DnD elements, not a pure rpg imo.

At least it's Eberron (iirc) and not fucking FR again.

Hmm I only played Silent Storm Sent and DS2 in that list. I think I was full on in MMO addiction in that year. And most years from 1999 to about 2009.

Only Geneforge 3. Want to play Hammer and Sickle and Silent Storm at some point though.

These games are all shit.
Hammer and Sickle is pretty damn awesome and FFvTTR is playable* otherwise your sentiment rings true 2005 was the height of the dark ages of console decline.

*not counting Sentinels since op is a tard.

I only played Dragonshard that year (which is suprisingly good, actually. If you need a squeeze of RTS, it's fairly recommendable).

Oh, wow, what a list... Almost thought I'd have nothing to choose at all until reaching Tears to Tiara at the very end, and it was quite a surprise to see it here at all. Well, I guess it does have strong enough RPG elements...

I've got Dragonshard sitting in my collection somewhere. Got it as a freebie for something or other. Maybe I'll fire it up one of these days. Years. Whatever.

I was quite surprised to see I'd played zero of these as well, lol. I do own Avernum 4 and could well play it at some point, but it'll probably be sometime after 2020 if I do (bought 1-6 at the same time) as I've yet to start 2. I find I need a good many months/years to recover from a vogel game (though the Avadons are a bit lighter in this regard). I also own Geneforge 3 (for the same reason) but I don't think I'll ever play that as Geneforge 1 didn't motivate me to continue the series even though I thought it was ok.

As for the others, they all just seem far too removed from anything I normally play. The D&D one is tempting, but...

Yeah, I nearly didn't put it on the list, but everywhere I went described it as an RPG hybrid with high emphasis on the RPG elements so I couldn't find an excuse to leave it out, especially on such a dull year anyway.

Only DS2 and Tears to Tiara, but they are not rpg games.

The only one I've played is Fate. It's notable for being the inspiration behind the Codexian "equip the ring" meme.

DAE member FATE UNLOCK CODE?

Good times.

lol none. Are any of these any good?
The Silent Storm games (Sentinels, Hammer & Sickle) are pretty good even though they are more strategy games than RPG for me (particularly Sentinels).

Anyway, if you liked Jagged Alliance 2, go for them.
