After playing and actually finishing two decent shooters I'm looking for something from another genre to play. Personally I'm thinking of doing a Thief or Homeworld playthrough or going for Gemini Rue or the second episonde of The Walking Dead. Then again, The Last Expres, Bloodlines (with latest fanpatch) and The Dig have also been on the list for a long, long time. Should I play any of these and which one, or is there an absolute must play you can recommend?

    What to play, bros?

The Dig or Gemini Rue, both are excellent adventure games. I had lots of fun playing but a riddle from Gemini Rue was simply ridiculous(
). The Dig had it's own set of inane moments but indubitably the worst was

This, though GR is waaaaaaaaay too easy and popamole (literally...), it makes up for it with a solid story, good setting, good writing, great graphics and music and a fantastic atmosphere.

The Dig's a great underrated Lucas adventure. Never understood why it didn't garner more success at the time.

Play The Last Express, it's pretty unique and powerful.

I watched a playthrough of the second episode of Walking Derp... it has even less 'puzzles' than the first episode. It's basically just an interactive comic strung together by QTE's.

The first episode wasn't a clue enough? Had to stop pretty early on, I guess people are starved for adventure games so badly they'll gladly swallow whatever crap gets served to them.

Well, not like I bought it. Just sort of watching it as a crappy B-movie on YouTube.

The Dig is a classic. Have you thought about giving Resonance a try? I'm enjoying it at the moment.

The Last Express, man! It's a game like no other, the dialogue, the characters, the visuals, the music, what are you waiting for?!

TLE was a good watch for me.
    A very ambitious game.

The Dig - I didn't enjoy it very much. Mixed opinion here - but OK, if Myth puzzle solving is your kind of thing with a splash of dialogues between two crew members then go ahead. It's very alien and one of the most 'mature' LucasArts adventure game I've played.

Bloodlines - Great game. I did not expect much and was turned off by the graphics when it was out...but the facial animation in conversation is top notch, bar none. After I learned and mastered most of my vampire abilities - I am very pleased with my Toreador and finished Ventrue & Malkavian playthrough. I wondered why there's no similar undertaking after Bloodlines.

Better stock up on mice, though. You might need a new one after you are through TLE.

Definitely play Bloodlines, one of the best games ever. Malkavian is the most fun but the voices in their heads may spoiler the story a bit so maybe keep them for a second playthrough.

After you finish Gemini Rue you can play Resonance, also a great AGS game.

I'll start out with The Walking Dead Ep 2 since the first one was fun and only took me a few hours. Am interested to see how it goes on. After that it's going to be The Last Express and frankly, it's the one I'm really looking forward to. Only played the start once but quit as my pc then died. Never got to it after that. Time to rectify. Will give my impressions.

Never heard about resonance. Thanks. Judging by the amount of recent releases (alpha polaris, gemini rue, dark eye, deponia) the genre is having some sort of resurgence. Nice.

EDIT: Goddamn is that art direction on TLE great.

Nosferatu is the codexian choice anyway. Sucking on rat blood and living in the sewers, all the while cursing those popamole surface dwellers.

Did my first Bloodline playthrough as a Nosferatu. Sneaked my way through everything and heard, read and saw all the info the game had. Kinda ruined subsequent playthroughs.

Did I mention TLE art direction is fucking awesome btw? What a game. Carpal tunnel syndrome inducing but worth it.
