There was a time when FF used to be an example of cutting edge graphics (on consoles anyway), the art style was highly appealing (character models aside), and the gameplay wasn't a corridor simulator. Square Enix are persistent to rape this franchise's rotting corpse over and over before the decomposition process is complete.

Anything associated with Square Enix these days triggers my anger and contempt for this shitty industry hard. I think I prefer even EA or Activision at this point.

Now that I think about it, how come Square doesn't do a Harvest Moon/Rune Factory ripoff in the FF world? You could raise and race chocobos (ff7 mini game expanded) and take advantage of the bajillion FF job classes n shiet.

At least the graphics are far from the franchises problems.

The game is made with a younger audience in mind. Also "it uses the ATB of FF games before 10", said the game director.

The chibi style seems to be a result of the game / combat mechanics (stacking on top of each other to enhance similar abilities) - and I think it looks o.k., makes Lightning more bearable than in her normal form.

I wholeheartedly think that they wre going for their own minifigure collection or whatever like and shit like Skylanders and then shelved the idea and they ended up with these designs and said: Fuck it, let's make a game. I don't love the graphical style but it's turn-based and as I said before, if it plays well, I will probably buy at some point. Other games are more important, like Exist Archive and Trails of Cold Steel 2.

Someone said that Hamazu is composing the soundtrack. Whatever I may end up thinking about the quality of the game, I know the soundtrack will be good.
